Sometimes. eharmony says it offers free trials of its Premium memberships from time to time, on its apps and its website, so a trial is not always on offer. What is always there is Basic membership, which is free to join and never expires.
Basic is not a trial
A trial ends and Basic does not. eharmony says Basic membership never expires, and no charge to become one.
Basic includes taking the Compatibility Quiz, visiting member profiles, and sending and receiving Likes to get a Match. That is enough to find out how the site works, how many women near you are on it and how your own page looks next to theirs.
Most men skip this stage and rush toward a paid plan. Using Basic properly for a week costs nothing, and it tells you more than a short trial would, because there is no clock running while you decide.
When a trial is available
eharmony says it offers free trials of Premium from time to time, and that its cost page covers how to start one when one is offered.
That wording is worth reading carefully. It does not promise a trial to every visitor. If you search for one and cannot find a trial button, the likely explanation is that none is running, and no workaround is needed. Do not pay a third-party site for a trial link. Look at eharmony's own cost page and its apps.
If you do start one, note the end date the day you begin, and check what happens when it ends. Whether a trial rolls into a paid term is the detail that costs men money, so read the screen before you confirm.
What Premium adds
Premium adds unlimited messaging with all members and seeing all member photos. It also adds seeing who has viewed you, distance search, a bespoke Personality Profile and dedicated Customer Care. eharmony says Premium memberships come in multi-month plans.
The Basic membership shows blurred versions of other members' pictures in most cases, so seeing every picture is one of the clearest differences between the tiers. Unlimited messaging is the other. On Basic you can send Likes and get a Match, but writing freely to any woman is a Premium feature.
Should you pay after the trial
Ask what you would pay for, and whether you are ready to use it.
a dating coach rejects the idea that you should never pay for a dating site. He calls that a bias that costs men results, and he points out that dating sites are businesses that earn their money from paying members, so the paid side is built to deliver. He also says not to pay blindly, and to test any feature, keep it if your results improve and drop it if they do not.
A trial is a good test only if you design it as one. Before it begins, write down how many women you are talking to and how many dates you have booked. When the trial ends, count again. If the numbers moved, pay. If they did not, you have saved a long commitment.
Get your own page ready first
Spending a trial on a page that is not ready wastes the days. Premium shows you more women and lets you write to more of them, and neither of those helps if the page they land on is forgettable.
a dating coach's profile reviews keep finding the same problem. The man is fine, and the page looks like every other one in the stack. His fix is to lead with the best clear picture of your face, avoid a list of hobbies, and give a woman one specific thing to ask about.
Do that during your Basic week, before you start any trial, so the trial days carry real conversations.
A plan for the first week
Take the Compatibility Quiz and finish your page on day one. Spend the next few days looking at profiles and sending Likes to the women you would actually want to meet.
Then count. How many Likes came back, how many women wrote, and how many agreed to a specific evening. That count is the thing to bring to a trial, or to a decision not to start one.
If the count is poor even with a good page, the answer is rarely a bigger plan. It is a different approach, and that is a cheaper problem to solve than twelve months of a subscription.
