Dating coaching works well for a man who has just left a long relationship, as long as he is ready to meet people and not still in the middle of grief. A coach teaches the skill you have not used in years: starting a conversation with a stranger. You begin with small steps, get honest feedback and set your own pace.
If you searched "are relationship coaches worth it," "relationship coach or therapist" or "relationship coaching reddit," the short answer is that it depends on what you need. A coach helps with skills and action. A therapist helps with pain, grief and mental health.
What it is like to be back
After years with one person, most men feel out of practice. You may not have approached a woman since your twenties. The apps look different, social norms feel different and you may not trust your read of a situation.
That is normal, and it is not a flaw. It is rust. The same steps that help a beginner help you, and you have an advantage most beginners do not: you know what a real relationship is like, and you know what you want from one.
Coach or therapist?
A coach and a therapist do different jobs.
- A therapist helps you process the end of the relationship, work through anger, sadness or guilt and deal with anxiety or depression.
- A dating coach helps you meet women, hold a conversation, ask for a number and plan a date.
If you are still struggling to sleep, eat or function, or the thought of the breakup floods you, start with a therapist, and add a coach later. If you feel stable and want to get back out there, a coach is the right tool. Many men use both.
Are coaches worth it?
A coach is worth it when you get real feedback and practice, not just talk. Here is a simple test for any program:
- Does it put you in front of real women, or just teach theory?
- Is someone watching you and telling you what to change?
- Are the claims honest, with no promise of an exact result?
- Do you know what you are buying: the days, the format, the ratio of students to coach?
A program that fails these tests is one to skip. A Cold Approach Bootcamp is built on the first two: it is in person, in the field, with live coaching on every approach and feedback after every set.
What the first steps look like
You do not start by chasing numbers. You start small. A first goal might be to walk up to a woman, smile and say hello. a dating coach says that if your goal is to physically walk up to a girl and say something, anyone can do that, and a coach raises the bar only after you can clear it.
A Bootcamp has four parts, taught in the field: approaching and conversation, attraction and delivery, numbers and dates, and rejection and follow-through. For a man coming out of a long relationship, the first and the last are often the biggest. You are learning to start, and to take a no without it feeling like a verdict on you.
Going at your own pace
There is no skill floor, and a man who has not approached anyone in years is welcome in both formats. Group runs three consecutive days with no more than three students per coach. Private is fully 1-on-1, for one, two or three days. If you would prefer to do this without other men watching, choose Private.
The Bootcamp runs in Miami and New York. Each training day is two four-hour blocks, with daygame and night game mixed to suit you. Tell your coach where you feel least sure, and the mix can lean toward the easier setting first.
What not to expect
A coach will not remove the pain of the breakup, and a program should not claim to. It also will not find you a girlfriend. What it can do is give you the skill to meet women in person and the habit of doing it, so that when you are ready you are not starting from zero.
After the Bootcamp
You leave with a written practice plan: what is working, what needs attention and where to focus when you go out again. You also get continued access to the community Slack. Men who want ongoing review of what they do can look at the online Mentorship.
