Yes, in the way that matters. Tinder says AI-powered matching is optional, and you can use Tinder with or without it. To stop using it, you simply do not tap the diamond icon, which stays on your screen either way. You can also review and delete the insights Tinder used for your Daily Drops, from inside the diamond.

How to stop using it

You do not need to hunt for a setting. The diamond in the upper right of your Discovery screen is where AI-powered matching lives, and Tinder says the icon stays on screen whether you use the feature or not.

So if you do not want it, leave the diamond alone. Tinder says you can use the app with or without the feature, so you carry on swiping and chatting the usual way.

If you change your mind later, the diamond is still there. Tinder describes the feature as something you can use or not, so trying it once does not lock you in.

How to clear what it learned about you

Stopping is one thing. Clearing what it already knows is another, and it takes a few taps.

Tap the diamond icon, then Explore My insights. Choose an insight and tap Delete. Repeat for each one you want gone.

It is worth doing this if something it picked up is wrong, or if it is simply something you would rather Tinder did not use. You do not need a reason. They are your insights to keep or delete.

Read them before you delete them, though. An insight that looks wrong can still be useful. If one says you are mainly into nightlife when your weekends are really hiking and cooking, ask whether your photos give women the same wrong impression. Four shots in dark bars will tell her that story too, whatever you actually do on a Saturday.

If you shared your camera roll when you set the feature up, remember that your phone's own privacy settings decide which apps can reach your photos. That is where to take the access away if you want to be thorough.

What you give up by not using it

Mostly a convenience. AI-powered matching gives you a Daily Drop, a curated set of recommendations built from a Q&A you answer once. It is a shortcut for choosing who to look at, and choosing is something you can do perfectly well yourself.

Without it, you still have your normal Discovery screen and your own judgment. What you lose is having a few picks put in front of you each day. If you enjoy that, keep it. If it feels like one more thing asking for your attention, let it go.

What decides your swiping results

Men sometimes worry that ignoring a feature like this will count against them somewhere else in the app. Tinder's help page says the feature is optional and that you can use Tinder with or without it. There is no reason to treat the diamond as something you have to feed.

What decides how your swiping goes has nothing to do with the diamond. Your photos decide whether she stops on your card. The few words you wrote decide whether she keeps reading. And your choices decide who you end up talking to, so like the women you would actually take out rather than everyone who looks fine.

The part no setting touches: your first messages

Neither the Daily Drop nor ordinary Discovery does anything after the match. That part is yours whichever way you use the app.

Answer new matches while they are fresh. Make your first line about her, pulled from something on her page, and keep it short enough to answer in one go. When she is replying warmly and quickly, suggest a plan rather than letting the chat drift into small talk for a week.

A man who does that well gets far more from the app than a man who has every feature switched on and sends "hey" to everyone.

Should you give it a try first?

If you have never used it, one fair test is to answer the questions honestly and look at your Daily Drops for a week or two. Judge it by the conversations it leads to, not by how clever the picks look.

If those conversations are better than your usual ones, keep it. If they are no different, stop tapping the diamond and delete the insights. Either way, you have lost nothing but a few minutes.

The short version

AI-powered matching is optional. Do not tap the diamond and you are not using it. Tap it, then Explore My insights, to delete anything it learned. Tinder says you can use the app with or without it, so put your effort into your photos, your choices and your first lines instead.
