Badoo Extra covers the basics: a daily Crush, no ads, the ability to undo an accidental left swipe, and bonus credits when you buy Credits. Badoo Premium includes all of that and adds seeing who likes you, priority for the messages you send, unlimited filters and private browsing. Both are sold in the same set of plan lengths, but only Premium also comes as a Lifetime option.
Side by side
What both plans include:
- A daily Crush.
- No ads.
- Undo for an accidental left swipe.
- Bonus credits when you buy Credits.
What only Premium adds:
- See who likes you.
- Priority for the messages you send.
- Unlimited filters.
- Private browsing.
On length, both come in the same range of plans, and Lifetime is Premium only.
What Extra is for
Extra makes the app nicer to use. The ads go, a pass you regret can be taken back, and you get a daily Crush and some bonus credits.
None of that changes which women you end up talking to, or how many of them. Extra suits a man who is happy with his results and wants a smoother app.
It also suits a man who buys Credits anyway and wants the bonus on top. Credits are Badoo's top-up currency. They pay for single actions, such as moving to the top of Discover, being seen by more people in Encounters or starting a chat without a match. If you use those often, the bonus credits in either plan add up.
What only Premium does
Premium's four extra features are about choice and reach.
Seeing who likes you is the big one. You get to look at the women who have already said yes and pick from them, instead of finding out about each one only when you happen to like her back.
Priority gives the messages you send a better place in line, although it does nothing for what they say. Unlimited filters let you narrow down exactly who you see. Private browsing lets you look around discreetly.
The feature that decides it
For most men, the choice comes down to one question. Do women already like you?
If they do, seeing who likes you is the most useful thing either plan offers. It turns guessing into a short list of women who are already interested. That alone is usually worth the step up from Extra.
If they rarely do, Premium's headline feature has little to show you, and neither plan will fix your results. The fix is your photos and your openers. a dating coach's warning about photos is that women judge you by your worst one, so a set with one weak photo in it does worse than the same set without it.
Which one to buy
- Buy Extra if your results are fine and you mostly want no ads and an Undo button.
- Buy Premium if women like you and you want to spend your time on the ones who already said yes.
- Buy neither yet if you are getting very few likes. Fix your photos first.
coach is generally in favor of paying for apps. His reasoning is that an app is a business, and it looks after the members who pay it. He also points out that a small amount of money often saves a lot of hours of swiping. He is equally clear, though, that you should test anything you pay for rather than spend blindly.
Test on a short plan
Both plans come in short lengths, so you do not have to commit for months. Start with the shortest plan that makes sense, and count what happens.
How many likes did you see? How many of those became conversations, and how many conversations became plans? If Premium brings you dates you would not otherwise have had, renew it. If Extra turns out to be all you needed, stay there and keep the difference.
Whichever plan you choose, the work after a match is the same. coach usually moves a woman from the app to her number within four to seven messages, and no subscription does that part for you.
A word on Lifetime
Only Premium comes as a Lifetime option. It is tempting if you expect to be on Badoo for a long time.
Treat it the way coach treats any paid feature, and prove it works for you first. coach has seen men struggle on one app and do very well on another, and an app can be strong in one city and thin in the next. A man who has had a good few weeks on a short Premium plan knows whether Badoo suits him and his city. A man buying Lifetime on his first day is only guessing.
