Yes, but they come to you. Match's help center says free members often get promotional emails with free trial offers and other discounts. To receive them, turn on Match Offers in the Email Preferences section of Account Settings. Searching the internet for a code is the slow way, since the offers Match actually honors are the ones it sends to your inbox.

How to get the offers

Open Account Settings and go to Email Preferences. Make sure Match Offers is switched on.

That is the whole trick. Plenty of men turn off every email from a dating site in the first week because the notices pile up. If you did, you turned off the discount emails along with the rest.

Offers can vary by location, so the one you see may differ from what a friend in another city sees.

How a free trial offer works

A free trial email includes redemption instructions. You choose a paid package and give payment information, and you are charged automatically unless you cancel before the trial ends.

So a free trial is not free of obligation. It is a period before the first charge, and the charge happens on its own if you do nothing. Put the end date in your calendar the day you redeem it.

A discount covers one period only

Match says promotional discounts and rates apply only to the first subscription period. They do not carry over after renewal.

When the first period ends, the plan renews at the ordinary rate. From your side the price seems to rise. It is the same plan with the introduction removed.

If you want to keep paying the lower rate, you cannot. The way to avoid the jump is to decide before the renewal date whether you want another period at the full rate, and turn off auto-renewal if you do not.

If you are not eligible for a trial

Not every member qualifies. Match says that if you are not eligible for a free trial, you can still subscribe from the Subscribe button, or from Subscribe or Upgrade on your Profile page in the mobile app.

Subscriptions come in packages of 1, 3, 6 or 12 months, with auto-renewal. A longer package is a larger commitment, so choose the length you can actually use.

Be careful with codes from other sites

A coupon site that promises a code may offer one that does not work or has expired. Do not enter payment details on any page that is not Match's own. The offers worth acting on are the ones in your Match emails and the options inside your own account.

Using a discount well

A cheaper subscription only helps if you spend the weeks well. Before you redeem, get ready.

Choose your best, most recent photos, with your face clear and in daylight. Write a few plain lines about what you do and what you want. Then decide how many women you will write to each day, and send each one a first message that mentions something specific from her page.

a dating coach treats paid features as a multiplier on what your page already does. If the page works, a discount lets you reach more women for less. If it does not, you are paying less to show a weak page to more people.

Move quickly during the paid period

A free or discounted period is short, and a conversation that drags for weeks uses it up. a dating coach's method moves a woman from the app to a plan in about four to seven messages and ends with a swapped number and a specific day.

So write to several women early in the period, keep each exchange brief and suggest a plan as soon as she is clearly enjoying it. By the end of the first period you will know whether the site works for you at the full rate.

Decide before the first renewal

Count what happened: how many women you wrote to, how many answered and how many agreed to meet. If dates came from it, the plan earned its price, and renewing may be worth it even at the ordinary rate. If none did, the discount only made the lesson cheaper.

Either way, make the choice on purpose, not by letting auto-renewal decide for you.
