Facebook says Dating is not available to everyone, so a missing tab usually has one of a few causes. You may live where Dating is not offered, your account may be too new or restricted, you may be looking in the wrong place, or you may have deleted a Dating page earlier. Check them in that order, and if Facebook has asked you to verify, finish that first. Other dating apps stay open to you while you wait.
Look in the right place
Dating lives inside the Facebook app for Android or iPhone. Open the app, tap Menu, then tap Dating.
Facebook describes Dating as something you reach from the app on a phone, so do not look for it on a computer. The Menu is long, and Dating is easy to scroll past, so go through the whole list slowly before you decide it is gone.
Is Dating offered where you live?
Facebook offers Dating in many countries, but not all of them. To use it you must live in a country where Dating is available, and Facebook keeps that list on its own help page.
Dating also needs Location Services on to create a Dating page, so check that your phone is letting Facebook see where you are. A phone with location off can make Dating look broken when the real fault is a setting.
Are you old enough, and is the account old enough?
You must be at least 18, with a Facebook account in good standing that is at least 30 days old.
The 30 day rule catches men who opened a Facebook account just to try Dating. There is nothing to do but wait for the account to reach 30 days, and there is no way around it that is worth trying. Use the time to take decent photos in daylight and to write down a few specific things about your life. When the month ends, you can set up in ten minutes instead of rushing.
Has the account been restricted?
Facebook may restrict accounts that are new or inactive, under 18, or that went against its Terms of Service, Community Standards or other policies.
You will not always be told which one applies. If your account has had a warning, a removed post or a locked login lately, that is the most likely reason. Dealing with that restriction through Facebook's own pages comes first, because Dating cannot be switched on over it.
Did you delete a Dating page earlier?
After you delete a Dating page, Facebook does not let you create a new one for a short waiting period.
The help pages do not say exactly how long that is, so do not count on a number. If you deleted your page last week, the missing option is probably the waiting period. It ends on its own, and the best use of the gap is to fix what made you quit: your photos, your answers, and the way you write to women.
Is a video check waiting?
If Facebook asks you to verify your Dating page, you cannot use Dating until you have done the video selfie.
Look for a notification or a prompt inside the app. The check exists to confirm that the face in your photos is yours. Do it in good light, with your face clear and nothing covering it, and follow the prompts.
Get ready for your first matches while you wait
Dating being unavailable does not mean you cannot meet people. Use the time well.
Get your photos ready. A clear, recent photo of your face in daylight leads, and two or three more show how you spend a week: friends, a place you go, something you do. Skip the gym mirror and the group shot where she has to guess which one you are.
Write your answers while you are not in a rush. Specific beats general every time. "I like food and travel" tells her nothing, while a line about a trip or a dish you cook gives her something to reply to.
If you want to meet people now, run another app next to it. a dating coach recommends testing two apps with the same photos and the same written lines, and keeping the one that produces conversations. Facebook Dating can join them when it shows up.
If none of it fits
If you meet every requirement and Dating still does not appear, close the app fully, update it, and try again. If it still does not show, use Facebook's own help pages to report the problem. Do not try to get around the rules, and do not open a second account to work around it.
