Happn says a suspended account means other users reported it, the member did not respect happn's Terms of Service, or both. If you think the suspension was unfair on a dating app you use every week, you contact happn's Customer Service. It looks into the case and reactivates the account if the suspension was not justified. Give it enough detail to find your account quickly.
What happn means by suspended
Happn does not use the word blocked in its help pages. It talks about a suspended account, and the explanation has two halves.
The first half is reports. Other users flagged your account. The second half is behavior. You did something its Terms of Service do not allow. Either one can be the reason, and the two can stack.
That is the whole official answer. Happn tells you what category of problem it is, and it is up to you to work out which message, photo or habit landed you there.
Start from the two causes happn names
Think back over the last few weeks. A report comes from a woman who did not like something you did, so the useful question is what she saw.
The usual suspects are easy to list. A rude reply after she stopped answering. A crude line she had not invited. A comment on her body. A photo or a bio that did not belong on a dating app. a dating coach tells men to stand out in their bio. He adds a warning in the same breath: do not be rude or offensive. Offensive content is how a man collects black marks and gets a bio banned.
Volume is the other one. coach describes dating sites where sending the exact same copied message again and again got an account suspended, and eventually banned. Those were other sites, not happn. The lesson travels anyway. A man who sends one copied line to every woman looks like spam to the system and to the women who get it.
Be honest with yourself here. If something on that list fits, you have found your answer, and it shapes what you write next.
How to appeal
Happn says to contact its Customer Service. There is no trick to it. One clear message is better than five angry ones.
Happn asks members to give as many details as they can about the account, so the team can find it easily. Include:
- The email address or phone number you used to register.
- The name that shows on the app.
- A plain account of what you think happened, in two or three sentences.
- A request that they review the case.
Write it like a short, calm email to a stranger who can fix your problem. Something like: "My happn account was suspended. I registered with this email, and the name on the app is this. I do not believe I broke the Terms of Service. Please review the case, and tell me if you need anything else from me."
Only say what is true. If you did send a message you regret, saying so and promising to stop is a stronger appeal than pretending nothing happened. Happn reviews the case, so a version of events that does not match what it sees will not help you.
Check the date of birth on the account
One detail from happn's help center is worth a minute of your time. It says members must enter their real date of birth, because its Terms of Use require it.
If you ever typed in a different birth date to get past a screen, that is a Terms problem on its own terms, and it can be part of why an account gets looked at. Do not hide it in the appeal. Tell the team what happened and ask what they need.
While you wait, keep your matches going on other dating apps
Do not send the same appeal five times. Do not argue with the team in the first message. Do not try to dodge the suspension by starting over under another name. Appeal the suspension that was applied.
Do use the waiting time. a dating coach's view is that you do not have to be loyal to one app, and it is fine to be on several at once. If happn was a main source of dates, open another app and keep conversations going there so the week is not wasted.
If you had a woman on happn you were enjoying, the account being suspended does not help you reach her. If you had her number, text her. If you do not, let it go and spend your energy on women you can still reach.
How to message women so it does not get you reported again
Treat the suspension as free feedback on how you use apps.
Write fewer messages and make each one specific to her. My rule for first messages is that shorter is better, and that a line about something on her page beats a generic one every time. A message that could go to any woman is the kind that gets reported.
Be selective about who you write to. A man who chases everyone ends up in more awkward exchanges, and each awkward exchange is a chance for a report. If a woman stops replying, stop. A single polite follow-up is fine. A second sulky one is how reports happen.
Finally, look at your page. A few clear photos of your face, and a bio with something specific in it, give the women who see you less to misread. A page that makes sense on first glance is the cheapest protection you have against being flagged.
