Why Can't You Send Likes on Hinge?

Hinge names four causes. Its Your Turn Limits pauses new likes when too many matches are waiting on your reply. Free members can only send a limited number of likes a day. And you cannot send likes at all until you acknowledge a warning from Hinge or complete an age check it requires.

Your Turn Limits is the one to rule out first, because it is the one you can clear in minutes.

When too many people are waiting on your reply, Hinge stops you sending new likes. It also stops you receiving them. A progress bar above your Matches warns you as you get close, and a pop-up tells you when you have hit the limit.

The way out is in your chats. Reply where it is your turn, or end the conversations you no longer expect to go anywhere. Once enough of the backlog is dealt with, your likes work again.

Paying does not get you around this one. The limit applies to Hinge+ and HingeX subscribers too.

If your chats are in order, the next suspect is the daily cap.

Free members can only send a select number of likes per day. Nothing is broken when you reach it. It is simply how the free version of the app works. Once you have used your likes, you wait for the next day's allowance, or you move to a paid tier.

If you run out early every day, look at how you spend them before you look at paying. A man who likes everyone in his first ten minutes will hit any cap. A man who likes a few women carefully, with a comment on each, may find the free allowance is plenty.

The third cause is more serious. Hinge will not let you send likes until you acknowledge a warning it has sent you. These are the notices Hinge sends about prohibited content or behavior.

Acknowledging it is the mechanical fix. The real fix is working out what triggered it and not doing it again.

Work down the list in this order.

Did you see a pop-up about people waiting on your reply, or a progress bar above your Matches? It is Your Turn Limits. Clear some chats.

Are you on the free version, and have you already sent a lot of likes today? It is the daily allowance. Wait, or pay.

Did Hinge show you a warning you tapped past? Go back to it and acknowledge it.

Has Hinge asked you to confirm your age? Finish the check.

When likes stop working, the instinct is to want more of them. More is rarely what you need.

Most of the value on Hinge sits in the conversations you already have. My approach is to handle those first, starting with the women he likes most and the ones closest to a date, and only then to go looking for new matches. Run your sessions that way and Your Turn Limits rarely comes up. Your free likes also go to women you actually chose.

Be selective with the likes you do send. My experience is that liking nearly everyone makes an app treat you as less attractive. A few careful likes, each with one line about something she wrote, will do more for you than a stack of blank ones.
