For most men, the shortest Premium plan, and only after a stretch on the free Basic membership. eHarmony Premium comes in 6, 12 or 24 month plans, and you cannot pay for a single month. A longer plan only makes sense once you have proof that the site works for you, because you are committing to a fixed term. We give no prices here, since they change.
Start with what is free
Everyone who joins eHarmony begins on a free Basic membership. It has no time limit, and it includes unlimited matches and the ability to send and receive Likes.
eHarmony says you cannot pay for just one month. The free Basic membership is its way of letting you try the site, and it periodically offers free trials to new members. So there is no cheap one-month test to buy. The free tier is the test.
Use it properly. Take the quiz, finish your page, add real photos and send a few Likes. Count what comes back.
What Premium adds
Premium adds unlimited messaging with all members. It also lets you see all member photos and see who has viewed you. You get distance search, a personality profile and dedicated customer care.
Some of these matter more than others. Unlimited messaging and seeing all photos change what you can do in a conversation. Seeing who has viewed you is nice to have. Distance search matters if you live outside a big city.
Ask yourself which of these would remove a real obstacle for you. If you cannot do any of them without Premium, it may be worth paying. If none of them is what is stopping you, a plan will not help.
A simple way to decide
a dating coach's rule for any paid feature is that it multiplies what you already have. A paid plan will not turn a weak page into a strong one. It will give a strong page more reach.
So look at your free results before you pay. If women are opening your page and replying and you keep hitting a wall at the messaging step, Premium removes the wall. If nobody is opening your page, the problem is photos and written answers, and a subscription will not touch it.
Six, twelve or twenty-four months
Pick the length by how sure you are, not by which plan looks cheapest per month.
The shortest plan is the right default. It limits how long you stay committed to a result you have not yet seen. If the site works for you, you can extend. If it does not, you lose the least.
A longer plan makes sense only when you already have proof: conversations that started, dates that happened, and a clear reason that more time on the site will help. Even then, remember that the longest term is the one that is hardest to walk away from.
Where to check what you have
Your Data & Settings page shows your Premium term length, the date of purchase and how to cancel by turning off auto-renewal. Look there as soon as you buy, so you know exactly what you signed up for and when it renews.
Turn off auto-renewal as soon as you are sure you do not want another term. A plan that renews without you noticing is the most common way a test turns into a bill.
The question to ask before you pay
Ask what you would do on day one of a plan that you cannot do today. If the answer is "message the women who already liked me back", that is a real reason. If the answer is "hope for better results", it is not.
Write the answer down. If you cannot name a specific thing Premium lets you do, wait.
Track it like a test
Whatever you choose, run it as a test. Write down the date you start, then count each week how many women replied, how many turned into a call or a plan to meet, and how many dates happened.
If the numbers rise in the first month, you have a reason to continue. If they do not, change your photos and your first line before changing your plan. And if two or three honest weeks later nothing has moved, drop it and use what you learned on another site.
A man who has been on Premium for a term and still has no dates should not pay for a longer one. He should look at what a woman sees first: the lead photo, the opening line, how fast he suggests meeting. Fix those, and a plan of any length works harder.
