Feeld does not publish a refresh schedule. It says it sets your location automatically in the app using geolocation. Discover is based on your current location by default. After you travel, though, Discover may keep showing women who do not match where you are now.

How the app decides where you are

Your location is set by the app itself, using the location services on your phone. You do not type it in. As long as the app has permission to use your location and Current location is selected in your search settings, Discover is built around where you are.

The exception is a popular or virtual location. If you choose one of those on purpose, you are telling Feeld to put you somewhere else.

Why it can lag after a trip

Feeld says that after you travel, Discover may show people who do not match your current location and your search radius. In other words, the feed can be one trip behind.

The app does not tell you how long that takes to catch up. That is why a fixed answer to "when" does not exist, and why it is better to know what to check than to wait.

Think of what that looks like for you. You flew home on Sunday, and on Monday you are looking at women in the city you left. Nothing is broken. The feed simply has not caught up yet.

What Feeld says to check

Feeld lists a short set of fixes, and they work best in this order.

First, look at the Location filter in your search settings and make sure it is set to Current location. A saved or chosen location will keep Discover where it was.

Second, force close the app and open it again. This often prompts it to read your location again.

Third, log out and back in.

Fourth, check that the app has permission to use your location. On an iPhone, the permission should be While Using the App. On an Android phone, it should be either Allow all the time or Allow only while using the app.

Go through them one at a time and look at Discover after each. Do not skip to something drastic.

A nearby city name is not a problem

If you live outside a major city, your page may show the name of a nearby city rather than your town. Feeld says that does not mean your location is wrong.

So before you start fixing things, check whether the name that looks wrong is just the closest big city. If it is, you can stop.

If you pick a popular or virtual location, your page does not appear in Discover for people in your local area. It shows Exploring plus the name of the place.

Be clear about what that means for a man. You will not show up to the women near you while it is switched on, so a week of silence is exactly what it should produce. It is a way to look around somewhere else, not a way to meet women where you live.

Switch back to your current location when you are done, and then check Discover again.

Why the right location means better messages and dates

A wrong location does more than make the feed look odd. It points your likes at women you are unlikely to see.

a dating coach tells a story about a woman he had real chemistry with, and a date that never got a second one. The two lived a bit too far apart, life got in the way, and it fizzled. He says it still bothers him, and he had far more success than most men. For a man who rarely gets a date, a connection with someone out of reach costs more.

So after a trip, take the two minutes to put your location right before you start liking anyone. The women you reach should be women you could realistically see this week.

If you are traveling on purpose

If you are in another city for a few days and want to meet someone there, make sure your location has caught up first. Then say when you will be in town, so a woman can plan around it.

A woman who knows you are visiting next week can decide whether she wants to meet. A woman who thinks you live nearby and then learns you do not will feel misled, and she will be right.
