Feeld does not publish a full explanation of how Discover orders the people you see. What its help pages describe is the set of filters that decide who can appear at all, plus one paid tool, Uplift, that moves you earlier in the line for a day. Anyone who tells you the exact ranking formula is guessing.

What decides who you see

Discover is based on your location, which the app sets automatically using geolocation. The exception is when you choose a popular or virtual location instead.

From there, the filters you control are:

  • Maximum distance.
  • Age range.
  • Genders and relationship types.
  • Location.
  • An LGBTQIA+ mode.

Majestic members can also filter by desires and by members who were recently online. Feeld says you cannot filter by a specific sexuality in Discover.

That list is the part you can trust, because it comes from Feeld. Every woman who shows up has passed the filters on both sides, and the ordering inside that group is not something Feeld has described.

What Uplift does

Uplift is a paid boost. For 24 hours from the moment you buy it, it pushes you up in Discover for members within a set radius of you who have not seen you yet, as long as you meet their search criteria.

Notice how narrow that is. It reaches women who have not already seen you, it only counts inside that radius, and it only works when you match what they asked for. It does not make anyone like you.

Feeld also says you cannot buy an Uplift while Incognito is on or while you are hidden from Discover, because you would get nothing from it.

What a dating coach says about algorithms in general

My view comes from the dating apps he tests, so treat it as a general rule and not as a statement about Feeld. He says the apps do not always show your page to women, and that paid visibility is how you get put in front of more of them.

He also describes diminishing returns. When he boosted every day for four days straight, the first day gave the most and each one after gave less. His explanation is that an app does not want to overfill a man with attention he does not use. The best women for you may also have seen you already and need time to reset.

His practical conclusion is to fill the funnel, work the people you got, and then rest for a few days before you push again.

Be selective with your likes

coach has also noted that on some apps, liking nearly everyone may make the app treat you as less selective, and that being choosier can put better options in front of you. He presents it as a possibility, not as something any app has confirmed, and Feeld has said nothing about it.

You do not need the theory to act on it. Like the women you would honestly want to take out. It costs nothing, it keeps your list full of people you want to talk to, and it saves you from conversations you will have to drag out or abandon.

What you can control

Since the formula is hidden, put your effort where the results are visible.

  • Keep your location set to where you actually are, so Discover shows women you could meet.
  • Keep your distance realistic. coach has a story of a great date that never got a second one because the two lived too far apart. A feed full of women two hours away is a feed you will not use.
  • Make your first photo clear: your face, daylight, nobody else in the frame.
  • Write one line that gives her something specific to ask about.

None of these depends on knowing the ranking, and all of them work on every app.

When paying makes sense

My rule on paid visibility is that it multiplies what is already there. When your page earns some likes unaided, an Uplift shows it to more women. When it does not, you are showing a weak first impression to a bigger crowd.

So earn some likes first. Then, if you want to use an Uplift, pick a day you can be around for. A woman who likes you during it is on the app now. Answer her the same day and the conversation starts warm.
