Every week, on the same day of the week you first bought your subscription. Bumble's example: if you subscribed on a Tuesday, any SuperSwipes and Spotlights you have not used are gone the following Tuesday. Your next batch arrives that same day, and unused ones do not roll over.

How the weekly reset works

The allowance that comes with Boost, Premium, or Premium+ runs on a seven-day loop that starts from your purchase day. For Premium+ members, the weekly Notes follow the same clock.

When that day comes round, two things happen at once. Whatever you did not spend from last week expires, and a fresh allowance replaces it. There is no bank to save into. A SuperSwipe you held back for the perfect match is lost if the perfect match does not show up before your reset day.

This only applies to the weekly allowance from your plan. SuperSwipes and Spotlights you buy as a pack work differently. Bumble describes those as single-use features you buy upfront and use whenever you are ready.

Finding your reset day

Your reset day is the weekday your subscription started. If you remember signing up on a Friday, your week turns over on Fridays.

To see how much you have left before it turns over, open the Profile tab and look at the top of the Pay plan page. Bumble shows your SuperSwipe and Spotlight balance there.

Put the reset day in your phone as a weekly reminder the day before. That one small habit is the difference between spending your allowance on purpose and finding out it vanished.

Why saving them backfires

Plenty of men sit on their SuperSwipes waiting for a woman worth spending one on. It feels disciplined. Most weeks it just means the allowance expires unused.

Being choosy is right. A SuperSwipe works best on a woman you can name a specific reason for, and wasting one on a random face does nothing for you. But choosy has to fit inside the week you have. If your reset is on Tuesday and it is Monday night, the question is not whether the ideal match has appeared. It is which of the women in your deck this week you had a real reason to pick.

The same logic applies to a Spotlight. An unused one is not being saved for a better evening. It is simply lost on reset day.

A simple weekly plan

You do not need a system. You need two decisions a week.

Pick your Spotlight evening. Choose one evening early in your week when you will have an hour free to answer matches. Start the Spotlight when people are likely to be on the app, then stay around to send a first line to whoever comes in. A Spotlight started right before you go to bed spends most of its time on women you will not answer until tomorrow.

Spend SuperSwipes as you go, with a reason. Some women have one detail on their page that stands out: a place you know, an opinion you want to argue with, a hobby you share. When you see one, send the SuperSwipe right then. Note the detail too, so your first line is ready if she matches.

Check the balance the day before reset. If you still have some left, look through your deck for the women who come closest to having a specific reason. Spend them there, not on the first faces you see.

Do not let the clock make the choice for you

The reset is a reason to plan, not a reason to spray. A SuperSwipe sent in a last-minute panic to someone you barely looked at tells her she stood out when she did not, and you will struggle to follow it up.

If you reach reset day with SuperSwipes left and nobody in your deck you have a reason for, letting them expire is fine. You lose nothing you were going to use well. What matters is that you spent the ones you had reasons for while those women were still in front of you.

When the allowance keeps going unused

If you regularly reach reset day with most of your weekly allowance untouched, look at what you are paying for.

The Spotlights and SuperSwipes are part of your plan, not the whole of it. If what you actually use is Extend, Rematch, or the Liked You queue, those are worth keeping regardless. But if you are paying for a higher plan mainly for the larger allowance and then not spending it, a lower plan may cover everything you actually use.

Either way, the reset day is the moment to check. Look at the balance, spend what you have good reasons for, and let the rest go.
