Nymph is a real dating app. The store listing calls it an open-minded dating app for open relationships, poly and queer people. It describes a community where individuals and couples connect. It is free to download, with paid tiers on top, and it is rated 18 and over.
So it is not the app for a man who wants one woman and a conventional relationship. It is for people who are open to non-monogamy, couples included.
What the app says it is
The App Store listing says the app is a community for open-minded individuals and couples. The publisher is a company called Nymph GmbH. It mentions encrypted chats, a verification process and an inclusive environment. A third-party mirror of the Google Play listing shows a mature rating and the line that you must be 18 or older to use it.
Nymph is also an insect stage and a figure from mythology, and some other apps share the name. None of those is a dating app. If you searched for dating, the open-minded app is the one you want to know about.
Who it is for
The subtitle does the sorting for you. Open relationships, poly and queer are the three groups it names, and the listing says it is for couples as well as individuals.
That changes how you should behave on it. Plain honesty about what you want matters more here than on a mainstream app. A man who shows up hoping for a quiet monogamous girlfriend will waste her time and his. A man who is curious about non-monogamy, and says so plainly, fits.
If you are not sure which camp you are in, decide that first, away from the app. Nobody is helped when someone discovers halfway through a date that they wanted different things.
What the paid tiers and likes sell
The app is free to use, and the store lists in-app purchases. Those include two subscription tiers, Nymph+ and NymphX, a profile boost, and packs of extra likes. The prices change and differ by store, so check them in the app before you decide.
The structure matters more than the numbers. Free users get a limited supply of likes, and the paid options sell more of them or more visibility. That is the same model most dating apps use.
What reviewers say about matches and messages
The ratings are split. The App Store shows a high rating. A third-party mirror of the Google Play page shows a much lower one, and that page lists a large number of installs.
Reviewers who dislike the app describe very tight like limits, match notifications that turned out to be fake, and a laggy interface. Reviewers who like it praise the verification and the group chats. These are opinions, not verified facts, but they match what you would expect from a free app that earns by selling more likes.
The App Store privacy listing shows the developer collects identifiers used for tracking. It also lists location, phone number, photos and device identifiers. Apple notes that these disclosures come from the developer and are not checked by Apple. For an app with mature themes, that deserves a thought before you add photos.
Is it worth using
It depends on where you live and what you want.
In a large city with a visible open-minded scene, the free version is worth an evening. Download it, use the free likes, and see whether women near you are active. In a small town the pool may be too thin to matter, and no paid tier changes that.
Do not pay first. A subscription multiplies the response you already get, and a multiplier on a bad first impression gives you more of the same. Spend that evening on your photos and your opening line. a dating coach's advice on the mainstream apps is to make the real-world meeting easy, close to where you live and reachable within a few messages. The same holds here.
How to write to someone on it
Be direct about what you are looking for. On an app like this, a clear line is a sign of respect, not a risk. Something like "I am curious about this lifestyle, and I would rather say so up front" tells her more about you than a joke does.
Then ask one easy question about something in her photos. Keep it to a sentence she can answer in a few seconds, and suggest a coffee or a drink in your neighborhood once she replies twice.
If you want one woman and a regular relationship
Use Hinge or Tinder. They are built for that kind of relationship, and most people on them say they want the same thing you do. Nymph will not do that job well, and it is better to say so now than to find out after you have paid for a tier.
