Say it once, in one calm and light line, and let the rest of the page show a man who is good company. "Keeping things light and fun, and I am good at both" works. A bio that is built around sex, or that hints at it with winks, tends to push away the women who would have been interested.

Why plain beats clever

A page attracts what it announces, in our view. If you want something casual, a plain line does the sorting for you. Women who read it and still write are not expecting something you will not give them.

The reverse also holds. If you hide what you want behind talk of finding a partner, you will spend your first week of chats disappointing people. That costs you time, and it costs a woman her trust.

Being plain does not mean being blunt. It means stating the aim in a relaxed voice and then getting on with being interesting.

Examples to borrow the shape of

These are original lines. Change the details to match your life.

  • "Keeping it light for now. Good food, good company, no pressure either way."
  • "Not looking for anything heavy. Looking for fun evenings and someone with strong opinions on dessert."
  • "Easygoing, busy, and honest about it. Tell me your idea of a good Friday."
  • "Casual is fine with me. Interesting is the requirement."

Each states the aim without a lecture, and each gives her something to answer. The last one is the strongest because it adds a standard, so you are not sounding like you will take anyone.

What makes a casual bio read as pushy

Some versions repel more than they attract.

Anything sexual, even as a joke. A bio that points at bodies or at bedrooms reads as a man who is only there for that, and it is what a woman has to be careful about.

Anything that sounds like a pitch. "No strings, no drama, just fun" is a list of conditions, and it makes the man sound guarded.

Anything that assumes yes. A line that treats her interest as settled makes her feel like a number.

Our view is that a woman wants to feel drawn to a man without being able to point to what he did. A calm line and a good page do that. A loud one does not.

Do not use a false line to get what you want

Do not write that you want a relationship to land a casual date. It costs you more than it gains. A woman who feels misled does not come back, and she tells her friends.

You can be honest and still warm. Say you are keeping things light, ask what she is looking for, and accept her answer. Plenty of women want the same thing and will say so. The ones who do not will tell you early, which saves you both time.

Tinder also has a place to state what you are looking for. Using it alongside a plain bio line removes any doubt, although the options on the app change, so check what is there now.

Give her a man, not a category

A casual bio still needs a person in it. If all you offer is the aim, she has no reason to pick you over the next man who offers the same.

Add one concrete detail. The kind of food you will drive across town for, the sport you are bad at, the hobby you take too seriously. a dating coach says your page should do the heavy lifting, and one real detail does more than a paragraph about being easygoing.

For example: "Casual suits me. I also make a lasagna that has ended two arguments. Come hungry." The first sentence states the aim and the rest shows a man.

Keep the rest of the page in line

A casual bio that sits above a set of pictures taken for a different purpose looks confused. Choose pictures that show you relaxed, with people, in places you go. A man who looks like good company is what a woman wants from a casual date, too.

Avoid a heavy shirtless set. It tells her what you want before she has read a word, and it narrows who writes to you.

What to do once she writes

The bio did its job if she replied. Keep the first few lines light and specific, and be as direct about the plan as you were about the aim. A drink, a night, a place. Women who want the same thing will move quickly, and you will know within a few exchanges.

If she wants something different, thank her and move on. A clear no early is the best outcome the bio can give you.
