Tinder has not published anything that explains a feature called Second Look. Its help center has no page for it, and the phrase does not appear in the English help articles that were checked. So what it does, who gets it, and when it shows up are all unpublished.

A feature can appear in the app before it reaches the help center, so the fair statement is that Tinder has not described it, not that it cannot exist. If you saw the words on your screen, what that screen says is the best source you have.

Why there is no official answer

Tinder's help center is where it documents features, and men often search it first. There, the phrase Second Look does not turn up, and a search of Tinder's official pages found no announcement under that name.

That leaves a gap, and gaps get filled by guesses. Be wary of any site that tells you exactly how Second Look works, which subscription includes it, or how many profiles it shows. Without a Tinder source, those details are made up.

What you may be thinking of

Tinder does have several documented features for seeing a woman again or seeing people you missed. Men tend to blur them together, and one of them may be what you saw.

Rewind takes back your last swipe. Tap the yellow arrow on the main screen and the person you just passed on comes back. Tinder says only subscribers can use it. Its subscriptions page lists unlimited Rewinds under Tinder Plus, and says Gold and Platinum include every Plus feature.

The Likes page shows you who has already liked you before you decide. Tinder's help center says it is for Gold and Platinum subscribers, and that a stand-alone purchase is being tested for some iPhone users in select markets.

Explore is a collection of experiences where you swipe on people who share similar interests. Tinder says swiping works there as it does in Discovery, and that some tiles depend on your region or on the time.

Missed Connections is a weekly Drop of people you may have crossed paths with in the past week. Tinder says it is found under the Explore icon and is offered in select markets.

None of those is named Second Look on the help pages. If one of them matches what you saw, that is your answer.

What to do if you see the words in your app

Read the screen. A feature that is live in your app usually explains itself in a short line of text, and that line is more reliable than anything online.

Before you pay for anything with that name on it, check your subscription page and read what the purchase includes. Tinder lists what each tier contains, and the list can change. If a button promises a second look but does not say what it costs or what you get, wait. Nothing about a dating app is urgent enough to buy blind.

Does a second look help you

The honest answer is that it helps less than men hope.

A woman decides on your photos in a few seconds. A second view of the same pictures rarely changes a decision made in a few seconds. A man who needs a second look to get a response has usually got a first-look problem.

That is why a dating coach's advice about paid app features is practical. They multiply what you already have. If your lead photo is strong and your first message is specific, a feature that shows you to more people helps. If it is not, you get more passes, faster.

The cheaper version of a second look

You can give yourself one for nothing. Look at the photo that opens your page. Is your face clear, in daylight, with no sunglasses and no group? Would a stranger be able to say what you do on a weekend from your set?

Then look at how you swipe. Coaching material on the apps makes one point again and again: like the women you actually want, not everyone. Slow down, look at each card, and like the ones you would be glad to meet.

When she is the one giving the second look

If a woman has already Liked you, treat it as plain good news. Message her soon with something about her photos and one easy question.

The faster you move, the less time either of you has to wonder whether it is worth the bother. Suggest a coffee or a drink near where you live within a few messages, and let the plan do the rest of the work.

The short version

Second Look is a phrase without a Tinder explanation. Rewind, the Likes page, Explore and Missed Connections are the documented ways to see someone again, and they are worth understanding. Do not pay for a label you cannot read about. Put the time into the photo she sees first.
