Internal error 0030 means Bumble has detected unusual behavior while you were using the app. Its help page lists the code as 0030 0430 00XX, also written 0030-0403-00XX, and says the error should disappear once Bumble decides everything is back to normal. Its advice is to take a short break and try again in 24 to 48 hours.

What Bumble says, and what it leaves out

Bumble's explanation of this code is short. It detects unusual behavior, the error appears, and once Bumble is satisfied that things are normal again, the error goes away.

The page does not list what counts as unusual. So anyone online who tells you exactly which action set it off is guessing, and you should treat their theory that way. What you do know is what Bumble wants from you, and it is simple: stop for a day or two, then try again.

Take the break it asks for

The instruction is 24 to 48 hours. Take the full amount.

Do not spend that time reinstalling the app every hour or logging in over and over to see if it has cleared. Bumble has asked you to wait, and checking every hour is not waiting.

Do not try to get around it either. A fresh account, a borrowed phone or any other workaround is the opposite of what Bumble has asked for. Bumble's page on personal details advises against making a second account even to fix your date of birth. A second one would also leave every conversation in your real account sitting there unanswered.

Put the phone down and let the clock run. A pause of a day or two is a small price next to making the problem worse.

Rule out someone else in your account

There is one situation where waiting is not enough. If the error arrives alongside signs that someone else has been using your account, treat that first.

Bumble's page on compromised accounts lists what to look for: changes to your profile you did not make, messages you did not send, or login alerts you do not recognize. If you see any of those, it gives these steps, in this order:

  1. Change the password on your email account, especially if your codes come by email.
  2. Change the password on any login you use with Bumble, such as Apple, Facebook or Google. If you log in with your phone number, contact your network provider.
  3. Log out of Bumble on every device where it is installed, from Profile, then Settings, then Log out. Bumble notes that logging out only affects the device you do it on.

If you are locked out and cannot do this, contact Bumble's support team straight away. And going forward, never share a login detail or a verification code with anyone. Bumble says it will never ask you for one. Its security page also suggests turning on two-factor authentication for the Apple, Google or Facebook account you log in with, which you set up with that company rather than inside Bumble.

Come back the way a normal user does

Once the break is over, open the app and use it like a man who has a life outside it.

To be clear, none of what follows is a claim about what set off the error. Bumble does not say. It is simply how the apps work best for you anyway.

Write each opening message for the woman you are sending it to, rather than pasting the same line into thirty chats. That version of you gets better results as well. A specific opener gives her something to answer. And My point about texting is that most men chat aimlessly for days until the conversation fizzles, while the man who suggests a drink once things are warm actually gets the date.

If it does not clear

If you have waited the full 48 hours and the error is still there, contact Bumble through the Help Hub. Open your Profile, tap the question mark icon in the top right, scroll down and tap Start Chat.

Bumble asks for the exact code or message you are seeing, a screenshot if you can get one, your phone model and operating system, and a short description of what you were doing when it appeared. Include your Bumble User ID too. Open Settings, scroll to the bottom, double-tap the Bumble logo and copy the number that appears. Then let support handle it, and do not keep testing the app while you wait for an answer.
