You keep swapping photos and prompts until the women you want are actually responding. The point is not to have a profile. The point is to get the right attention.
Cold Approach makes that testing easier by letting you track results based on the method you use.
Organic Method
Track your daily likes, matches, and high-quality matches.
After a week, replace one photo with the one you want to test. Keep tracking the same numbers, then compare them to the same day of the week from the week before.
Benchmark: a strong profile gets 5 to 10 likes per day after the first week.
If you do not want to wait around to test one photo at a time, use the boost method.
Boost Method
Use the app’s boost feature:
Hinge: 24-hour Boost Bumble: 2.5-hour Boost Tinder: 4-hour Boost, split into 2 x 2-hour Boosts
Swipe actively during the boost.
Twenty-four hours after the boost starts, record your likes, matches, and high-quality matches.
Then swap in the photo you want to test, run another boost, and record the same numbers again 24 hours after the start time.
Compare the two boosts and decide whether the new photo improved your profile, made it worse, or changed nothing.
Benchmark: getting 1 to 2 high-quality matches per boost means your profile is strong.
Once you hit 1 to 2 high-quality matches per boost, you can move to Hinge opener testing, which is the most accurate and measurable way to test your profile.
Hinge Opener Method
Open 100 profiles on Hinge with the same opener over the course of a week. For example, do 20 per day for five days.
Track your matches and high-quality matches.
Swap in a photo you want to test, then open another 100 profiles with the same opener.
Compare the results. If the match difference is 5 or more, the change is meaningful.
Benchmark: a 20% match rate is solid, and it usually lines up with a profile that also does well organically.
Potential Problem with the Boost Method
Boosts are tied closely to how the app already ranks your profile.
That means boosts get better as your profile gets better. If your profile is weak, a boost may not do much. You may need several boosts before the app starts showing you to more women and decides you are worth pushing.
On apps like Hinge, you can use the Opener Method to get likes from attractive profiles first. That can improve how your boosts perform later.
