The difference is who finds out and what they see. A like cannot include a note, and only Majestic members can see who liked them, so a woman on a free membership only learns you liked her if she likes you back on her own. A Ping alerts her by notification and in the app even if she is a free member, and it can carry a note. Both a like and a Ping remove that person from your Discover feed.
The like
A like is the everyday choice. You tap the heart, and your like waits for her decision.
What she sees depends on her membership. If she is a Majestic member, she can see who liked her, so she may find you that way. If she is a free member, she cannot. Your like only turns into anything if she comes across you in Discover and likes you too.
A like carries no words. Whatever you would have said has to wait until you are connected.
The Ping
A Ping is the loud version. She is alerted by notification and in the app that you are very interested, whatever membership she has.
It can also carry a note, unless she has opted out of Ping notes. That makes it the only way on Feeld to say something to a woman before you are connected.
Majestic members get unlimited likes and one included Ping a day. Any member, free or Majestic, can buy more Pings.
Both take her out of Discover
This part is easy to miss. Whether you like her or Ping her, that person leaves your Discover feed.
So you get one decision per person, and you cannot like her first and then decide to Ping her later from the same feed. Before you tap anything on someone you really want to reach, decide which one she gets.
When a like is enough
Most of the time, a like is the right tool. It is how you tell most women yes, and on Majestic you have as many as you want.
The one thing to watch is volume. a dating coach warns that an app probably treats a man who likes almost everyone as less attractive, and shows him to fewer of the people he actually wants. Unlimited likes are room to be choosy, not a reason to stop being choosy. Like the women you would genuinely be glad to hear from, and pass on the rest.
When a Ping is worth spending
A Ping earns its place in two situations.
The first is a woman you would really regret missing. My view is that features which bring your interest to her attention raise the chance she sees you at all, which matters with a woman who gets a lot of attention.
The second follows from how likes work. If she is a free member, she will never see your like unless she likes you back on her own. A Ping reaches her either way.
coach also names the cost. Singling a woman out tells her you think she is special before she has said anything, which puts her on a small pedestal and can read as eager. So when you Ping, the rest of your conversation needs to be better than usual.
Writing the note
If she has not opted out of notes, use the note. It is the one thing a like can never do.
Keep it to one short line built from something specific she wrote or showed. My approach is to read her photos and her words before you type anything, and to let the opener come from there. A little playful teasing beats a compliment, because the Ping has already told her you are keen. Leave out anything blunt and sexual, however flirtatious her page is. My view is that an opener like that is common and rarely works, and that it pays to keep some tension instead.
Count what each one gets you
My rule for anything you pay for on an app is to test it and keep it only if it makes a real difference. Extra Pings cost money, so hold them to that standard.
Keep a rough tally for a few weeks. How many Pings turned into connections, and how many of those turned into a plan? Compare that with your likes. If your Pings clearly do better, keep using them on the women who matter most. If they do not, the problem is probably your photos or your notes rather than the button, and those are cheaper to fix.
