Badoo has free features and paid features. Its help center lists three paid options: Badoo Premium, Badoo Extra and Credits. You can use the app without paying for any of them. The things that show a man who likes him, or move his messages to the front, sit behind a payment. So it helps to know the line before you open your wallet.
What you get without paying
Badoo's help center says photo verification, bio and interest badges are open to everyone. Those are the tools that make a page look real and give a woman something to react to, and none of them costs anything.
That matters more than the paid tools. A verified photo, a short honest bio and a few interests chosen with care do more for your results than any upgrade, because they work on every woman who sees you.
A verified photo is worth a minute of your time. It tells her the face in your pictures belongs to you, which removes one easy reason to pass. The interest badges do a smaller job. They give her something to ask about, and a first message built on a shared interest is easier to write than one built on nothing.
Without Premium you may also see that you have new likes. The catch is that those people are blurred until you upgrade. You know someone liked you, but you cannot see who. For a man deciding whether to pay, that blurred row is the part to think about.
What Premium adds
Premium is the full paid tier. According to Badoo's help center it includes:
- seeing who likes you
- priority for the messages you send
- a daily crush
- ad removal
- undoing an accidental left swipe
- unlimited filters
- browsing private profiles
- Invisible mode
Some of these are comfort. Ad removal and an undo for a swipe you meant to go the other way are pleasant, not decisive. Seeing who likes you and priority for your messages are the two that touch your results, because one removes the blur and the other moves your message closer to the front of her inbox.
Invisible mode is a different kind of tool. It controls who can see you, not how many women see you, so it suits a man who wants to look around quietly.
What Extra adds
Badoo Extra is a lighter paid tier. The help center says it gives you a daily crush, ad removal, undo for left swipes and some bonus credits.
Notice what is missing: it does not show you who liked you. If that is the reason you were thinking of paying, Extra will not give it to you, and you will end up buying twice.
How Credits work
Credits are a top-up system, not a subscription. You buy them as you need them and spend them on one thing at a time. Badoo lists uses such as moving to the top of Discover, being seen by more people in Encounters, opening a chat without a match, sending a crush and read receipts.
The appeal is that you pay only for the thing you want. The risk is that each of those things is a small purchase, and small purchases add up quickly when you feel a conversation slipping.
Spend Credits on a woman you have already decided you want to meet, not on a hunch. Paying to open a chat with someone who has not matched with you buys a message she may never answer.
When paying is worth it
a dating coach's standing advice on online dating is to treat each app as a test. Run it with free features first, count how many conversations turn into plans, and only then decide whether a paid tool would help you.
Paying makes sense when the free version is already working and one specific tool would remove a real bottleneck. If you have good photos and women are liking you, seeing them and getting priority for your messages can turn a blur into dates. Paying makes no sense when your photos are weak. An upgrade will not fix a lead picture she swipes past, and you will have paid to be ignored faster.
What to do before you pay
Give the free version two weeks with your best photos and a few honest lines about yourself. Get the photo verification badge. Count your likes, your conversations and your dates.
If almost nothing comes in, the fix is your photos and your first message, not a tier. If plenty comes in but you cannot see or answer it fast enough, that is the moment a paid feature earns its place.
Whatever you do buy, write down the day you want to decide again, so a purchase made in a weak moment gets a second look.
