No. A Cold Approach Bootcamp has no skill floor, and nothing in how it is built is meant only for younger men, so a man over 40 is a normal student. The skills taught are approaching, conversation, attraction, getting a number and handling a no. None of them expires at 40. What changes is how you start, since you may be rusty, and how you use the life you already have.

a dating coach said in one video, at 42, that dating changes less after 30 than men fear, and that it does change in some clear ways. Knowing which ways is the useful part.

What does not change after 40

The basics of a good conversation are the same at any age. A woman responds to a man who is relaxed, interested in her and clear about what he wants. She does not do a calculation based on your birth year before she decides whether the conversation is pleasant.

The fear is the same too. Whether you are 25 or 45, the moment before you walk over feels the same. That is the thing the Bootcamp works on directly, with a coach beside you and feedback after every approach.

Attraction depends on how you carry yourself and what happens in the conversation. Some women will be interested and some will not at every age. Learning to tell the difference calmly is part of the practice.

What does change

Be honest about the real differences.

  • You may be out of practice. If you have been married or in a long relationship, you may not have approached anyone in many years. That is common and teachable.
  • Your conversation topics shift. How you approach changes little, but the talk moves toward work, travel, family and plans, since that is where your life is.
  • You have more to lose in your own mind. A man at 45 can feel the awkwardness more because he thinks he should know this by now. He does not, and nobody does until they learn it.
  • Your body asks more of the day. The training is active, so plan for it.

What you bring that a younger man lacks

a dating coach jokes that being old has one good point: experience and knowledge. It is worth taking seriously.

  • A real life. A career, a home, friends and interests. She can picture joining a life like that.
  • Less need to impress. A man who is settled in himself usually looks calmer than one performing.
  • Clear intentions. You know whether you want a relationship or something lighter, and you can say it.
  • Patience in conversation. You are more likely to listen, which is half of a good first conversation.

These are real advantages, and the Bootcamp helps you show them in the first thirty seconds, where they count.

If you are starting after a divorce

Many men who book after 40 are recently divorced or have been out of dating for years. If that is you, say so on the first day. It tells your coach where to start, and you are far from the first man in that spot.

What the training asks of you

Every training day is two four-hour blocks in the field. Group runs three consecutive days at no more than three students per coach. Private is one, two or three days, fully 1-on-1, and longer programs are quoted on request. Both are in Miami or New York.

Daygame and night game are mixed to suit you. A man who prefers daytime can weight his days that way and still practice both. Bring comfortable shoes and tell your coach about any physical limits.

Group or Private for an older beginner

Group suits a man who likes company and learns by watching others get coached. Private suits a man who would rather not be watched, or who wants the pace to be his alone.

Neither format is for beginners or for experienced men only.

What a man over 40 should expect afterward

You leave with a written practice plan, and your coach adds you to the community Slack. There is no follow-up call in the package. Men who want a coach to keep reviewing their progress can look at the Mentorship.

Results depend on whether you keep going out after the days end.

The honest answer

If you are asking whether it is too late, you are probably asking whether you have wasted your chance. You have not. And if you are in your 50s or 60s, see Can a Man in His 50s or 60s Do a Dating Bootcamp?.
