How Video Dating Works on Luxy

Video Dating on Luxy connects you in real time with members who are available, even before the two of you have matched. You can also video call a woman you have already matched with by tapping the video icon in your chat. Calls are paid for in Coins by the minute: outgoing calls are charged from the start, and incoming calls start free before the same per-minute charge begins. If you would rather not take calls, you can turn off Receive Video Calls under Settings, then Notifications.

Most app features stay in text until you have both liked each other. Video Dating does not. It connects you live with members who are available at that moment, whether or not you have matched.

Think of it as the app's version of saying hello to a stranger. It is quick, it is live, and most calls will not go anywhere. That is fine. The ones that go well give you something text never can: she has heard your voice and seen your face move, and she already has a feel for who you are.

With someone you have already matched, you can start a video call from the video icon inside your chat.

This is where Video Dating earns its keep. Once a conversation is going well, a short call is the most natural step between messages and a date.

Do not surprise her with it, though. A video call out of nowhere from a man she has only exchanged a few lines with can feel like a lot, and she may be on a train or in a meeting. Send a quick message first asking whether she is free for a few minutes, and let her pick the moment. A call she agreed to starts warm. A call she was ambushed by starts with her apologizing for her hair.

Calls are paid in Luxy Coins, charged by the minute. Outgoing calls cost Coins from the start. Incoming calls are free at first, then move to the same per-minute charge. Luxy's help center lists the current rates.

In practice, the cost is a reason to keep calls short, and short is what you want anyway. Ten minutes that leave her smiling are worth more than an hour that drifts.

If you do not want members calling you, go to Settings, then Notifications, and switch off Receive Video Calls.

That is worth doing if calls tend to arrive at bad moments, at work or late at night. A rushed, distracted call does you no favors. It is better to take calls when you can give them your full attention, and to start them yourself when the timing suits you both.

Every step closer to face to face tells you more about each other. Seeing her on a screen tells you more than hearing her voice, and hearing her voice tells you more than any amount of typing.

A call before the first date does three useful things. You find out whether she matches her photos and whether talking to her is fun, before you give up an evening to learn it. She is also much more likely to show up, because you are no longer a stranger from an app. And when she does arrive, she already feels she knows you, so the first date feels more like a second one.
