Open your Matches, find her name, and swipe it to the left to reveal the options, then tap We Met. Hinge lets you change your answer there at any time, so if you told it you had not gone on a date and now you have, that is where you tell it. Hinge says it uses what it learns from We Met to make its algorithm better and to keep the community safe and respectful.
The steps
Here is the update from start to finish:
- Open the Matches tab.
- Find the woman you went out with.
- Swipe her name to the left. Two options appear side by side: Unmatch and We Met.
- Tap We Met and answer the questions again.
Take a second before you tap. The two options sit right next to each other, and tapping Unmatch by mistake ends the connection you just spent a date building.
You can also reach We Met from inside the conversation. Tap the three dots at the top right and it appears in the list of options, alongside Unmatch, Hide and Report.
When Hinge asks the question
Hinge sends its We Met check-in a few days after you and a match exchange phone numbers. It asks whether you went on a date, and whether she is the type of person you would like to see again.
That timing is why so many men need to update. A few days after swapping numbers is often before the date has happened. You answer no because you have not met yet, the date happens the following week, and your earlier answer is now out of date. The swipe-left option exists for exactly this case.
Why an honest answer helps you
Hinge says it built We Met to learn about its members' dates so it can make better recommendations. If you say you do not want a second date, it considers that when it recommends new people to you.
So a stale "no, we did not go out" is a small waste. The date that actually happened is the best information you can give Hinge about the kind of woman you click with. It only counts if your answer is right.
Answer the second question with the same honesty. If she was lovely but there was nothing between you, say you would not see her again. Telling Hinge what does not work for you is as useful as telling it what does.
Nobody else sees your answer
Hinge says any feedback you share through We Met is completely private. It says it will never share date feedback with existing or future matches.
She will not see what you said, and neither will any woman you match with later. You do not need to be diplomatic in it. You need to be accurate.
If the date was disrespectful
We Met is also where you can report someone. Hinge says that if your date was disrespectful in any way, you can report that person through We Met. From inside the conversation, tap the three dots at the top right to find the options.
That is a separate step from updating whether you met. If a date crossed a line, take it. Hinge says what it learns through We Met goes toward keeping the community safe and respectful.
Let the check-in push you toward the date
The check-in lands a few days after the number swap. If it arrives and you still have not set a day, treat it as a warning that things are drifting.
The longer the gap between getting her number and making a plan, the more chances life has to get in the way. a dating coach tells the story of a woman he had real chemistry with and never saw again. After the first date their schedules changed, he traveled, and the second date simply never happened. That is from a man who has dated a great deal. For a man who gets fewer dates, losing one to drift hurts more.
So when We Met asks whether you went on a date and the honest answer is "not yet", let that be your cue. Text her a day and a place. Keep it short and specific, the same way you would open a conversation.
Then, once the date has happened, go back and update We Met. It takes a few seconds, and it is also a good moment to look back at what worked. Which of your prompts did she comment on first? How long did it take you to ask her out? Where did you go, and would you take the next woman there too? Those answers improve your next date more than anything Hinge can recommend.
