To undo a skip, tap the swirly arrow button at the top of Finder. That is a Rollback, and it works if you have Hily Premium or have bought Rollbacks separately. To take back a like, open Activity, tap Likes sent, choose the person, scroll to the bottom and tap Unlike.
Undoing a skip with Rollback
A Rollback brings back someone you skipped with the X.
- Stay in Finder.
- Tap the swirly arrow button at the top of the screen.
It only works if you have Hily Premium or have bought Rollbacks on their own. On a free account with no Rollbacks, a skip stays a skip.
Use it the moment you realize you tapped the wrong way, before you carry on through more cards. The quicker you catch it, the less there is to untangle.
Look properly after a Rollback
A Rollback gives you a second look, so use it as one.
When she comes back, scroll up on her card and see all of it: the rest of her photos and whatever she wrote. Sometimes the skip was a slip of the thumb and you like her at once. Sometimes, on a proper look, the skip was right, and you can pass on her again with a clear conscience.
If you do like her and she likes you back, you already know what caught your eye. Use it. A first line built on the thing that made you hit Rollback beats a bare "hey" every time.
Taking back a like
Undoing a like is a different process, and it happens in Activity rather than in Finder.
- Open Activity.
- Tap Likes sent.
- Pick the person you want to unlike.
- Scroll to the bottom of her profile.
- Tap Unlike.
This is useful when you liked someone in a hurry and, on a proper look, you are not interested. It keeps your list of likes to women you would actually want to hear from.
When to unlike someone
Take a like back when you know you would not follow it up. You tapped the heart on the first photo, then read what she wrote and realized you want different things. Or you liked her by accident while scrolling.
Leave it alone when you are simply unsure. A like costs you nothing while it waits. If she likes you back and you have a good conversation, you will be glad you left it.
It is also worth a quick tidy now and then. Every week or so, open Activity, look through Likes sent, and unlike anyone you know you would not follow up. It takes two minutes and keeps your attention on the women you actually want to hear from.
A slower way through Finder
Almost every accidental skip and every regretted like comes from the same habit: going through Finder too fast.
You are half watching something else, your thumb is ahead of your brain, and the card is gone before you have really seen it. The same speed that makes you skip a woman you would have liked also makes you like women you have no real interest in. Rollback and Unlike clean up after that habit. They do not fix it.
A few small changes remove most of the need for either button.
- Open Finder when you can give it your attention.
- Scroll up on each card to see all of her photos and what she wrote.
- Decide only after you have read something.
- Stop while you still care, not after an hour of tapping.
The last few minutes of a long session are where the careless decisions pile up. Two short, focused sessions will serve you far better than one long one where your thumb takes over.
Fewer taps, better matches
Slowing down is not just about avoiding mistakes. a dating coach believes many apps notice a man who likes almost everyone and read him as less selective, and that being choosier can lead an app to show you better options. He says liking nearly everyone worked for him once and later started to really hurt him.
So when you slow down, you get two benefits at once. You make fewer mistaken taps, and the likes you do send go to women you have a real reason to write to. That makes your first message easier, because you already know what caught your eye.
Is Premium worth it for Rollback alone?
Probably not. A Rollback is a small safety net. It is handy when it saves you from losing a woman you wanted, but it is not a reason to subscribe by itself.
My rule for paid features is to test them. Try one that is fairly cheap, see whether it makes a real difference to your matches and dates, and drop it if it does not. Judge Premium on everything it gives you, not on one button. And if you find yourself reaching for Rollback every day, the fix is free: scroll slower.
