Most men handle this in one of two ways, and both are bad.

The first is to never check at all, on the grounds that being suspicious is unattractive. The second is to check loudly, by asking her to prove things, and to find out that a real woman will simply stop replying rather than audition for a stranger.

There is a third way, and it takes about two minutes. She never has to know you did it.

Section 01

The two minute version

Do this before you are invested, not after.

Save two or three of her photos and run a reverse image search on each. Most phones and browsers do this in a couple of taps. You are looking for the same face on a modelling site, an account in a different name, or a stock photo library.

Search the exact words of her bio in quotes. Copied bios travel between fake accounts unchanged, and a search will often find the original.

Search the name she gave you with the city she gave you. Almost everyone has some ordinary trace online. A person with no trace at all is not proof of anything, but it is worth noticing.

That is the whole check. You are not building a case. You are giving the obvious problems a chance to show up.

Section 02

What the photos tell you

Look at the set the way you would look at your own.

A real woman's photos come from different moments. Different light, different hair, different years, at least one taken by a friend who was not trying very hard. Faces are at different distances. Someone in the background is mid blink.

Accounts that are not what they claim tend to look better than that. Every shot is well lit and well framed. There are no group photos, or the same one group photo appears twice. Nothing is casual. There is no picture that looks like it was taken because the day was nice rather than because the picture was needed.

Six near professional photos and nothing ordinary is the combination to look at twice.

Section 03

Let the conversation do the work

You do not have to ask her anything pointed. You just have to pay attention to the ordinary specifics.

Real people leak detail without being asked. The name of the road their gym is on. That the office moved last year. That their sister is being difficult about a wedding. Those details stay stable, and they connect to each other.

An account being run by somebody else stays general for a long time. Warm, complimentary, and oddly free of specifics. When detail does appear it often does not line up: she is in the same city but awake at the wrong hours, or her job changes shape between messages, or her English shifts between one message and the next.

Small contradictions are the real signal, and you only catch them by listening rather than by asking.

Section 04

Ask for one ordinary thing

The strongest check is the least dramatic. Suggest something normal that a real woman can do easily.

A short video call before you meet. A drink this week, because you are both in the same city. A photo of what she is having for lunch, because you said it sounded better than yours.

Do not announce any of it as a test. "I would rather see your face than keep typing, are you free tonight" is a warm message that also settles the whole question. A woman who is who she says she is will either do it or tell you plainly why not, and the plain reason will be a reason you recognise from your own life.

The one that keeps producing new obstacles has told you what you needed to know, and you never had to accuse anybody of anything.

Section 05

Doing it quietly is the whole skill

Here is where men lose women who were completely real.

Never tell her you searched her photos. Never ask for a picture of her holding a piece of paper with your name written on it. Never send a list of questions. Never say "I just need to be sure you are real" at the start of a conversation, because to a real woman that reads as a man who has already decided she might be lying.

Checking is for you. It is quiet, it is fast, and it stays in your own head. The conversation she sees should just be a man who is easy to talk to and who suggested a drink.

Section 06

When the check is unclear

It often is, and that is fine. Real people are messy. A woman with four photos and a two word bio is usually just someone who did not enjoy making a profile.

When you are unsure, do not escalate the checking. Move toward meeting instead. A short first date settles more than an hour of searching ever will, and it settles it in the direction you actually want, which is either a good evening or a clean answer.

Meet somewhere public, tell a friend where you are going, and keep the first one short. That covers the small remaining risk without making the whole thing feel like a security procedure.

Section 07

When checking has become the hobby

If you find yourself running searches on every match, the problem has moved. Suspicion that starts as sense turns into a way of never having to go on a date, because there is always one more thing to verify first.

Men in that position usually do not need better checks. They need the apps to stop being a place where they sort and worry, and start being a place where dates come from.

That is what handing them over changes. Our team redoes the photos and the whole profile, then runs the apps and the conversations day to day, which includes this sorting before anything reaches you. What lands on your calendar is an evening with a woman who is real and who fits what you said you wanted. Your first date within a week, or we keep working.

You get to go back to being a man on a date rather than a man doing background checks at midnight.
