Cancel in the place where you bought it. If you paid on the Zoosk website, cancel on the website. If you paid through Apple, cancel in your Apple account settings. If you paid through Google Play, cancel in Google Play. The website route works from a computer, and you do not need the Zoosk app installed to cancel through Apple or Google.
Work out where you paid
Zoosk cannot cancel a subscription that Apple or Google is billing. Each store bills its own, so the cancel button is in the store, not in Zoosk.
If you are not sure, look at the receipt or the charge on your card statement. A charge that names Apple or Google Play means the store route. A charge from Zoosk itself, paid by card or PayPal, means the website. When it is still unclear, check your Apple account and your Google account in turn.
Cancelling on the Zoosk website
Open Zoosk in a browser and sign in. Then:
- Go to My Profile.
- Choose Account Settings.
- Choose Subscription, then Manage Subscription.
- Select Manage Subscription again and pick your active subscription.
- Select Cancel Subscription.
- Choose a reason, then select Confirm Cancelation.
You should see a confirmation message on screen and receive a confirmation email. If neither arrives, assume it did not go through and try again. Keep the email until after your next billing date has passed.
Cancelling through Apple or Google Play
A subscription bought through the App Store is billed by Apple, so you cancel it in your Apple account settings. A subscription bought through Google Play is cancelled in your Google Play account. Both work without opening Zoosk.
Check afterwards that the store shows the subscription as cancelled. A cancel you started but never finished looks identical to one that worked, right up until the next charge.
What cancelling does
Cancelling turns off the next automatic renewal. It does not end the current term early, and it does not create a refund.
You keep your Premium features until the end of the billing period you already paid for. After that, your account drops back to Basic. Zoosk also states that every purchase is final and non-refundable. That includes automatic renewals. So the best time to cancel is before you are charged, and a good habit is to cancel the day you subscribe, since you lose nothing by doing it early.
After you cancel
Keep the confirmation email, or take a screenshot of the confirmation on screen. If a charge ever appears after your paid period ends, that record is what you show.
Use the paid days that are left. If you have Connections waiting, write to them now, since the messaging is the part you are paying for. When the period ends you drop to Basic access, which still lets you look around and use the free tools.
If your account is blocked
If Zoosk blocked your account and you paid on the website by card or PayPal, you do not need to go through those cancel steps. Purchases made through iOS or Android are different. They still follow the Apple or Google steps.
Decide before the next charge
Most men cancel for one reason. They paid, they sent a few messages, and nothing came of it.
Before you cancel, count what the month gave you. a dating coach treats online dating as a numbers game, so use numbers: how many women you wrote to, how many wrote back, how many conversations became a plan. If those figures were healthy, a second month may be worth it. If they were flat, the paid features were not the problem. Photos and first messages usually are.
That is also why one month is a fair test. My view is that a little money can buy back a lot of time, provided the photos and messages are already doing their part. Pay for a month with a goal: say you want to write to a set number of women and get a set number of replies. Then decide on the evidence rather than on how the month felt.
If you do cancel, fix the basics before you try another dating app. Put a clear, daylight photo of your face first, and suggest a plan within a handful of messages. Those two changes follow you to every app.
