Discover lets you browse on Badoo instead of deciding on one person at a time. In the Everyone tab you see people who fit your preferences, and you can open anyone to see more of their photos. Tap the heart to show interest, and if you both say yes, it is a match. If there is no heart on someone's page, you do not meet that member's search criteria. The For You section is a separate selection of people Badoo thinks you might like.
The Everyone tab
Everyone is the part of Discover you will use most. It shows people who fit the preferences you have set, and you move through them at your own pace.
The difference from Encounters is control. Encounters puts one woman in front of you and asks for a decision. Discover lets you look around, open the women who interest you and leave the rest alone.
Open her page before you decide
Tap into anyone and you see more of her photos. Use that.
A single photo tells you very little. It might be dark, taken from across a room, or several years old. The rest of her photos usually give you a much truer sense of who she is and whether you would enjoy an evening with her. Looking takes a few seconds, and it saves you from careless passes and careless likes alike.
When you have looked, tap the heart if she is someone you would be glad to hear from. If she says yes to you too, you have a match, and the two of you can talk.
She can open yours too
Discover works the same way for her. A woman browsing can open your page and look through all of your photos before she decides.
So your whole set counts here, not only the first photo. a dating coach's warning is that women judge a man by his worst photo, not his best. A strong first photo followed by a blurry one from years ago drags the whole set down. If a photo is only all right, take it out. A shorter set of good photos beats a longer set with a weak one in it.
When there is no heart
Sometimes you open a woman's page and the heart is not there. That means you do not meet her search criteria. She has set her own preferences, and you fall outside them.
Do not read anything more into it. She has not looked at you and decided no. A filter did its job before either of you was involved. Close her page and move on to the next woman who interests you.
What For You is
For You is a separate section. Instead of everyone who fits your preferences, it shows a selection of people Badoo thinks you might like.
Treat it as a suggestion, not a verdict. My view of every dating app is that its first goal is keeping members on the app and making money, not pairing you with the right woman. That does not make For You useless, and some of its picks will be good ones. But your own judgment of who you want to take out beats any app's guess about it.
Discover or Encounters
Both tabs lead to the same place, a match, when you both say yes. They suit different moods.
Encounters is quick. It is good for a few minutes on a commute, when you want to get through a stack of new faces.
Discover is deliberate. It is better when you have time to look properly and would rather choose than react. It is also where you can start a chat before a match, by tapping the speech bubble on someone's page, as long as you are verified and have Credits. That costs you something, so save it for a woman who clearly stands apart from the rest.
Using Discover well
Be choosy. coach warns that liking almost everyone on any app tends to get you treated as less attractive, and shown fewer of the women you actually want. Browsing makes it very easy to like everyone who looks fine. Save the heart for the women who look like more than fine.
Keep your sessions short and regular. My experience is that half an hour a day over several days beats one long evening, and that the first half hour is worth the most.
When a match comes in, write something short about one thing you noticed on her page. My first messages take him about a minute to write, because he saves his real effort for later, when she is replying well and it is time to suggest a plan. He usually gets from the app to a woman's number within four to seven messages. Browsing carefully gets you better matches, and a quick plan is what turns them into dates.
