You have to be at least 18. Bumble says it is exclusively for adults, and its minimum age is 18. The only age limit its help pages state is that minimum. There is no upper cap listed, though the age range you pick controls which women appear in front of you.
How Bumble checks
Bumble does not rely on you typing a birth date. It asks members who may be under 18 to verify their photos, using a mix of automated checks and human moderators, to confirm they are real and old enough to use the app.
It also offers ID Verification, which uses a government-issued ID to check your age and photo. In South Korea, members may be asked to complete a manual age verification to confirm they meet the 18+ requirement.
All of it exists for one reason: to keep minors off the app.
Reporting someone who looks underage
Bumble asks members to report any profile they believe belongs to someone under 18. If you come across one, report it. Do not message her, do not argue with her about her age and do not leave it for someone else.
That one is not up for debate, and no amount of interest in her page changes it.
Your age is part of your page
Bumble says it cannot hide or remove your age from your page. Every woman who opens your page sees how old you are.
So the question is not how to avoid being read as a certain age. It is how to make an honest number work for you. A man who is 38 and looks like a 38-year-old in his photos is believable. A man whose photos are ten years old loses her the first time she meets him and sees the gap.
The age range is your setting
There is a filter in the People tab that lets you set an age range for the women you see. It decides who is in your stack.
Set it around the women you would genuinely take out. Too narrow a range and the stack runs thin fast, because there are fewer women to show you. Too wide a range and you spend your swipes on women you would not meet anyway. Pick the range you would be happy to date inside, and adjust after a week of results rather than before.
Recent photos matter more every year
The older the photo, the bigger the gap when she meets you. A picture that was true five years ago is not one anymore, and she will notice the difference in the first minute.
Use photos from the last year or so. If you have changed your hair, your weight or your beard, show the version she will actually sit across from. A woman who finds the man she expected on the first date stays for the second. A woman who feels she was misled does not.
Change the range after you see results
Do not agonize over the first range you pick. Set it, use the app for a week, and look at who answers.
If every woman who writes back is at one end of your range, move the range toward that end. If the stack runs out of fresh faces too fast, widen it a little. The age filter is a setting you tune, not a verdict on what you deserve.
What carries a man at any age
What works for a man on Bumble does not depend on whether he is 25 or 45. It is photos that look like him now, a first photo where his face is clear, and a first message that mentions something specific from her page.
a dating coach's advice for any app is to test and adjust. If your results are thin, change one photo and leave everything else alone, then compare. Your age does not decide whether the page works, and it is not something to hide.
Where ID Verification fits
ID Verification is a separate check from the photo review. Bumble uses a government-issued ID to check your age and your photo against a real document, which is a firmer test than a selfie.
You do not need it to prove you are 18 in the ordinary way. It is an option when you want Bumble to confirm your age and photo against an ID, and it makes sense for a man who is honest about both and has nothing to adjust.
If you are unsure whether to join
If you are 18 or older, you can use the app. If you are not, you cannot, and you should not try to get around the check. Wait until you qualify and sign up honestly.
