Most men ask this as if the answer were a length of time. Six months, a year, until the spring. Time is the wrong unit, because a year of opening the app twice a week is not a year of trying.
The useful version of the question is whether more effort is still buying you more dates. That has an answer, it sits in numbers you already have, and working it out takes about ten minutes.
Three numbers, from your own apps
Take the last three months, and the three before that. Do not estimate. Go and look.
How many hours a week did you actually spend on the apps. Swiping counts, and so does rereading a conversation you never answered.
How many matches did you get.
And how many first dates did you sit through. Not arranged. Not nearly. Sat through.
The test
Line the two stretches up next to each other.
If the hours went up and the dates went up with them, you are still on the part of the curve where effort pays. Keep going, and get help when you want the hours back rather than because it is not working.
If the hours went up and the dates did not move, you have your answer. More of the same input is not producing more of the output, and doing it for another six months tests nothing you have not already tested twice.
If the hours went down and the dates went down with them, hold on. That is not a broken method, that is a man who stopped, which is a different problem and usually a scheduling one.
The four things you can actually change
There are only four levers, and they sit in an order.
Your photographs decide whether she stops scrolling. Your written profile decides whether a woman who stopped keeps going. Your targeting decides who you are put in front of and where your attention goes. And your follow through decides whether a warm exchange becomes a specific evening at a specific place.
Most men who feel stuck have already had a go at the first two. New pictures, a rewritten bio, a different app. Some have had a go at the third by widening the age range, which is usually a way of getting more of what was already not working.
Almost nobody fixes the fourth, and the fourth is where the calendar is won or lost.
Why the last one never gets fixed alone
Because it is not a knowledge problem. Every man reading this knows a conversation is supposed to turn into a drink, and roughly when.
The reason it does not happen is that the window opens on a Wednesday at four in the afternoon while you are at work, and by the time you pick up your phone it is Friday, she has been left for two days, and the suggestion now reads as an afterthought. Nothing about knowing better fixes that. It is an hours problem wearing the costume of a skill problem.
That is the distinction worth being honest about with yourself. If you are short on method, learn the method, and you will get far more out of learning it than out of handing anything over. If you are short on evenings, a better method leaves you holding a better method and the same empty week.
When it is genuinely too early
Two men should keep going on their own for a while yet.
The first has never properly rebuilt his photographs. Not swapped one out. Rebuilt. Until that has happened once, he has not run the experiment, and everything downstream is being judged against a starting number he never fixed.
The second opens the app in bursts. Two heavy weekends, then nothing for a month. He does not have a result, he has a sample. Running it steadily for six weeks will tell him more than any amount of staring at the last year.
Both of those men can find out cheaply, and both of them should, because the answer might be that his own apps work fine once they are given something to work with.
If you failed the test
Then the thing to stop doing is the bit you have been repeating.
The Online Dating Concierge takes all four levers at once instead of one at a time. Our team redoes your photos, built from ordinary selfies with no shoot on your end, then rebuilds the whole profile around them. The apps get run every day after that, on every app you want to be on, including the selective ones such as Raya, The League, Luxy or Inner Circle, on the accounts you already have. Interest gets read against what you said you wanted. Conversations get carried, and the evening gets proposed while the window is open rather than on Friday when it has shut.
And it keeps getting adjusted against what is actually producing dates, which is the one thing a man doing this alone in the gaps of his week never gets round to.
The answer to the question
Keep trying on your own for exactly as long as trying harder is still buying you more. The moment the hours climb and the dates hold flat, you have finished learning what effort alone can teach you here.
Your first date within a week, or we keep working. After that the target is 2-3 dates each week, and the hours you were spending to find all this out come back to you.
