You cancel in the store that charges you, not inside Duet. If you bought through Apple, you turn off auto-renew in your Apple subscription settings, and you have to do it at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Deleting the app or deleting your Duet account does not cancel anything. The charge keeps coming until you turn the subscription off.

The same steps cover both paid tiers, Duet Premium and Duet Supreme. They also match how almost every dating app handles premium, so if you landed here searching for how to cancel a premium dating app in general, the approach is the same.

Find out who bills you

Duet's refund policy splits payments into groups, and the group decides where you cancel. Purchases made through Apple are managed by Apple. Purchases through Google Play are managed in the Play Store, under Payments and subscriptions. Payments by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Klarna go through Duet's support team.

If you cannot remember how you paid, look at your bank or card statement. The line that shows up tells you whether the charge came from Apple, from Google or from Duet directly.

Cancelling on an iPhone

Duet's listing says Premium and Supreme bought through Apple are charged to your iTunes account. They renew automatically unless you switch auto-renew off at least 24 hours before the period ends. The route to the switch:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap your name at the top.
  3. Tap Subscriptions.
  4. Choose the Duet subscription.
  5. Turn off auto-renew, or tap Cancel Subscription, and confirm.

Duet's terms put the burden on you. They say that if you do not cancel auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the period, you accept that Duet continues to charge you for the next cycle. Do it with a day or two to spare.

Cancelling on Android

If you paid through Google Play, open the Play Store and find your subscriptions under Payments and subscriptions. Cancel the Duet one from there. Duet does not handle these purchases, so writing to Duet will not stop a Google charge.

If you paid by card or another method

For card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Klarna payments, Duet says its support team handles the request. Duet lists support at support@duetapp.net for subscription questions. Put your account email in the message, say which tier you have, and say plainly that you want auto-renewal turned off.

What cancelling does not do

Duet's terms say that with an auto-recurring subscription, your payment method keeps being billed until you cancel the subscription. They also say that if you stop using the app during a paid period, Duet is not responsible for refunding the remaining period.

So a man who stops opening the app on day four of a paid month has already spent the month. Cancelling stops the next charge. It does not return the one you made. Any refund request goes to whoever processed the purchase, and the refund policy describes that as Apple, Google or Duet's support team depending on how you paid.

Decide before you cancel

Before you turn it off, spend two minutes with the numbers. How many women wrote back while you were paying? How many of those turned into a plan to meet? a dating coach's rule for any paid feature on a dating app is to test it and judge it by the results. If paying produced nothing, cancel without guilt. If it produced a couple of dates, think twice about cutting the one thing that was working.

He is also clear that the mistake is paying by default and never looking at what it did, rather than paying itself. A subscription renews whether or not you use it, so a check every term is a habit worth having.

If the paid tier did not help, look upstream. Put a clear photo of your face first, write one specific line a woman can answer, and reply fast to anyone who writes. None of that costs anything, and it works on every app.

Use the days you have left

After you cancel, you keep what you paid for until the period ends. Spend those days. Ask the women you are already talking to for a particular evening, and move the ones who say yes onto a phone number. That way you leave the app with plans on the calendar instead of only an expired membership.
