CrushTime is a game happn offers when you are eligible for it, and the app sends you a notification when that happens. Each game shows you a small grid of people, and you guess which one of them has already Liked you. Your first try is free. To play again, you have to send a SuperCrush to find out which one liked you. Whoever you select gets a Like from you by default, whether your guess was right or not.

When CrushTime appears

You do not start CrushTime whenever you like. The app notifies you when you are eligible, and the game is there to play from that point.

So there is no reason to chase it, or to keep opening the app hoping for a round. Use happn the way you normally would. When the notification arrives, take a moment with the grid rather than tapping the first face you see, because whatever you pick is a Like you have sent.

How a round works

When happn tells you CrushTime is available, you open it and see a grid of a few people. One of them has already Liked you. Your job is to pick which one.

It is a small, quick game, and the fun of it is obvious. Somebody in that grid is already interested. The question is only who.

A Like on happn is normally secret, so CrushTime is unusual: it tells you outright that someone in front of you liked you, even if it makes you guess who.

What it costs

The first try in a game is free.

If you want another go, it costs you a SuperCrush, and sending one is how you find out which person in the grid actually liked you. SuperCrushes are limited, and they come with happn's paid Premium subscription, so that second try is not free in any real sense.

Think about that before you spend one. A SuperCrush sent to find out who liked you is a SuperCrush you cannot send to a woman you picked yourself, with a message you actually thought about.

The Like it sends for you

This is the part most men miss. When you select a person in CrushTime, happn sends that person a Like from you by default.

That is fine when you pick someone you would have liked anyway. It is less fine when you tapped a face at random just to see if your guess was right. If that person had liked you, or likes you back later, you now have a Crush with someone you never really chose.

So treat every pick in CrushTime as a Like, because it is one. Only select people you would genuinely be happy to match with.

Where the matches you did not expect come from

If a Crush has ever appeared with someone you do not remember liking, CrushTime is the likeliest reason.

A Crush only happens when two people have liked each other. When you play CrushTime and select someone, your Like goes to them automatically. If they had liked you too, the two Likes meet and you get a Crush.

It is not a glitch and nobody made a mistake. It is how the game is built. Knowing that is enough to stop it surprising you again.

Is it worth playing

CrushTime has one real strength. Every grid contains someone who already liked you, and that is a warmer starting point than a random feed.

So play it the way you would use a Like anywhere else. Look at the grid honestly. If there is someone in it you would be pleased to match with, pick her. If you would not want to match with anyone in it, that game is not worth playing, because any pick sends a Like.

What is rarely worth it is paying a SuperCrush just to solve the puzzle. a dating coach's view of super likes on other apps is that they are worth using when they bring your interest to the attention of women you really want. Spending one to find out who liked you is not that.

Turning a CrushTime Crush into a date

A Crush from CrushTime works like any other. The chat opens, and the rest is on you.

Write first, and make it short and specific. a dating coach looks for one unusual detail in what she has put up and teases her about it. He prefers reacting to her words over her photos, because it reads as genuine rather than superficial. On happn you also have the place you crossed paths, which is an easy, natural opener.

Then do not let the chat drift. a dating coach aims to go from the app to her number in four to seven messages. A few lines of back and forth, then a simple plan somewhere near where your paths crossed, is all it takes.
