Height gets a tall man noticed. It does not carry the conversation, and an awkward tall man often finds that out the hard way. Dating coaching helps because awkwardness is made of specific, fixable things: where you put your hands, how fast you talk, how long you stare at the floor. A Cold Approach Bootcamp works on those in person, in Miami or New York, with a coach who sees them as they happen and corrects them on the spot.
Being tall is the easy half. The training goes to the other half.
Why height does not fix awkward
Many tall men assume height will cover a weak first thirty seconds. It covers the first glance. After that she is dealing with how you behave, and a tall man who hunches, mumbles and avoids her eyes looks less settled than a shorter man who is relaxed.
Tall awkward men tend to share a few habits:
- Hunching to seem smaller. Years of being the tallest in the room teach a man to fold himself down.
- Looming without meaning to. Walking up fast from above can feel like a lot to a woman who did not see you coming.
- Long silences. The nerves make you search for the perfect thing to say, and the gap grows.
- Stiff hands and shoulders. The body signals tension even when the words are fine.
a dating coach has coached men for twenty years and says that every man has a sticking point he thinks is the reason he fails. For most, it is not the trait. It is what the man does about it.
What a coach adjusts
A coach next to you can say in one sentence what would take a video an hour to explain. For a tall man, the useful corrections are usually physical and simple:
- How you approach. Coming from the side, slowing your pace and stopping at a comfortable distance feels friendlier than walking straight at her from above.
- Your posture. Standing straight and relaxed, shoulders down, reads as calm. Hunched reads as nervous.
- Where you look. Steady, easy eye contact, with breaks that look natural, replaces staring at the floor or past her head.
- Your voice. Slowing down and speaking from your chest makes you sound sure, and your height already helps it carry.
- What you do with your hands. A relaxed hand and an easy gesture beat a locked arm.
My line about coaching in the field is that major problems can sometimes be corrected with one comment. For an awkward man, that is often what changes a day.
Awkwardness is part of learning
Being awkward at the start is normal, and it is not a sign you are bad at this. coach tells beginners to count a good approach as walking up and saying something, which is a bar anyone can clear. The polish comes after. Each approach you finish teaches your body something that thinking about it never does.
What a Bootcamp covers
Every training day is two four-hour coaching blocks in the field, with live coaching on each approach and feedback after every set. Daygame (streets and cafes by day) and night game (bars and lounges) are mixed to suit you. Each day covers four parts as they come up:
- Approaching and conversation: getting through the hesitation, the first thirty seconds, and keeping the talk going without an interview.
- Attraction and delivery: real interest, flirting, voice, eye contact, posture and positioning.
- Numbers and dates: exchanging contact details, texting toward a date, and knowing when an immediate date makes sense.
- Rejection and follow-through: handling a no without letting it decide your day, and a written practice plan.
There is no skill floor, and a total beginner is never sent to one on one first. Cold Approach specializes in approach anxiety, so the men who lock up are the ones the program is designed around.
Group or Private
Group runs three consecutive days at no more than three students per coach, so you watch other men get corrected too and often notice your own habits. Private is one, two or three days, fully one on one, with longer programs quoted on request. A man who feels self-conscious about being watched often prefers Private.
