Not in the way most men mean it. The free way to hide on Tinder is to turn Discovery off, and that hides you by stopping you from looking at anyone new. The version where you keep browsing while only the women you Liked can see you is called incognito mode, and Tinder includes it with its paid plans.
What turning Discovery off does
Tinder's help page on hiding says that with Discovery off, you are not shown as a recommendation to new people. That part is the hiding.
The catch is the second half. You also cannot view recommendations or Like anyone new while it is off. So you are anonymous the way a man who closed the app is anonymous. Nobody new sees you, and you see nobody new.
To switch it off, open Tinder or Tinder.com, tap the profile icon, go to Settings, scroll to Enable Discovery and turn the toggle off. It costs nothing, and you can turn it back on whenever you like.
What still works with Discovery off
You can still view and chat with the women you have already matched with. That makes it a decent pause button for a man who has a few real conversations going and does not want new attention piling up.
It is not airtight. Tinder says people you already Liked may still see you and match with you. If you Liked a woman last week and want to vanish from her, Discovery off does not do it.
What incognito mode adds
Incognito is the browse-while-hidden option. Tinder's newsroom describes it as letting you keep Liking and Noping while only the people you have Liked see you in their recommendations.
According to the same source, it comes with the paid Tinder Plus, Gold and Platinum subscriptions. Tinder's subscription help page lists going incognito, described as hiding your page at any time, among the Plus features. So the only way to look at new women while staying hidden from everyone else is to pay for a plan.
The free bits of privacy
A few smaller things are free and worth knowing. Tinder has settings that stop other people from seeing when you were last on the app. Online Now sits under Active Status in Settings, and Recently Active has its own toggle.
These do not hide your card. A woman can still see you in her stack. They only hide your timing, which is often what a man is actually worried about when he asks this question.
The honest answer to why you want it
Most men who ask for anonymous browsing are worried about being seen. A coworker, an ex, or a woman from a date that went nowhere is the usual picture.
If one person is the worry, think about whether a plan or a setting fits that person. A stranger scrolling past you is the normal condition of the app, and it is how you meet anyone. a dating coach treats online dating as a numbers game. You work on the ratio of good conversations to total conversations over time. A man who keeps himself hidden gets almost no practice at it.
Picking the setting that fits your worry
Different worries need different tools, and it helps to name yours before you touch a toggle.
If you want a break from new attention, turn Discovery off. You keep your current conversations and nobody new finds you. If you only dislike being seen as active, switch off the activity settings and carry on as normal. If you want to look at new women without being seen by everyone else, that is what incognito does, and it is the one of the three that costs money.
None of the free options lets you do all of it at once. A man who wants to browse and stay hidden has to choose: pay for incognito, or accept being visible while he looks.
Is incognito worth paying for
Only if hiding is the thing you need. A subscription is worth testing when it solves a problem you can name.
My rule for any paid feature is to try it once, see whether it changes your results, and drop it if it does not. Incognito will not bring you more women. At best, it lets you look without being seen by people you would rather avoid.
If your real goal is more dates, spend that money and attention on the photos and first line a woman sees instead. Staying hidden gets you no new matches, and no setting changes that.
