The best dating app for you is the one with the most active women within a short drive of your home. Tinder, Hinge and Bumble all have women of every build, so a man who likes big women does not need a special app to find them. He needs to use a normal one on purpose. The apps will not do the sorting for you, so the sorting comes from who you like and how you talk to her.
Start with the apps that have the most women near you
An app is only as good as the number of women on it who are active in your city. A small site built around one taste can sound perfect, and then show you eleven women within an hour of your house, four of whom have not logged in for months.
The large apps solve that by sheer size. Women of every age and build are on them, and nobody has to explain to them why a man would like what he likes. Begin where the volume is, and treat anything smaller as an extra to test later.
What the apps will and will not sort for you
Do not expect an app to hand you a list of big women on request. Tinder says its Search feature will not return results based on sensitive traits such as race, religion, body type or political views. Tinder points men to its filters and preferences, which sit with the Discovery settings, as the tools for finding the kind of person you want.
Match.com is more open about it. Its Top Picks are chosen from your stated preferences, and body type is one of the things they take into account, next to faith, education and whether she has kids. That makes it worth a look if you want the app to do some of the work.
Whatever you pick, the real sorting is your own thumb. That is good news, because it is the part you control.
Like the women you actually want to meet
a dating coach is blunt about this on the apps. If you like everyone, the app treats you as unselective and has no reason to show you the women you would be most excited about. His advice is to swipe right only on women you would genuinely take for a drink.
For you, that means you can be specific without any apology. Spend your likes on the women whose photos make you want to start a conversation. A short list of women you are keen on beats a long list of strangers you tolerated, and you will write better first messages to people you are pleased to find.
Say what you like without making it strange
Men who prefer bigger women sometimes make the same mistake in the first message. They lead with her body, or they say something that sounds like a category she has been put in. Women notice that instantly, and the reply never comes.
Talk to her the way you would talk to any woman you like. Pick one specific thing from what she wrote or the setting in her photos and ask about it. If you want to compliment her, make it about how she looks in a particular shot, her smile, the dress, the way she is laughing, and not a remark about her size. A woman who has been messaged by men who only want her for one reason can tell the difference in one line.
Tinder's guidelines bar hate based on traits including body type, and they say that if a person does not fit what you want, you should simply not like them. That is the right attitude for a man to keep everywhere on the apps. Nobody is owed a reply, and nobody should hear what you think of her build if she is not your type.
Be honest about what you want in the first conversation
If you like bigger women, say so in how you behave, not by making a statement about it. Show a real interest in her life, ask her out, and be warm about it. The goal is for her to feel wanted as a person, not picked out for one feature.
When you reach a date, turn up with the same attention you would give anyone. Choose a place where she can be comfortable, a restaurant with real seats, or a walk with an easy place to stop. Her comfort is part of what makes the evening good for both of you.
Test one thing at a time
My rule for every app is to change one thing, then watch what happens. If you try a niche site, give it a fair trial and track what you get in return, then drop it if nothing improves. The same goes for a paid plan on a large app. Pay for a short stretch, count conversations and dates, and stop if the number does not move.
That keeps you from spending money on a promise. A simple record of who you liked, who answered and who agreed to meet will show you which app earns a place on your phone.
The apps are a starting point
The apps are only the introduction. What turns a match into a date is the conversation you have and how soon you suggest meeting. Stay on the biggest apps first, be specific about whom you like, and treat every woman as a person. That will do more for you than any list of special sites.
