You have reached happn's daily Like limit. happn caps how many Likes you can send in a day, and says it does this to improve the quality of interactions on the app. When you hit the cap, happn lets you know, and you can carry on sending Likes the next day. Subscribing to happn removes the limit altogether.
How the limit works
The limit is daily. Once you reach it, the app notifies you, and you cannot send more Likes until the next day. The women you have not got to yet will usually still be in your feed when your Likes come back.
A happn subscription takes the cap away. If you are on the free version, the limit is part of the deal.
That is all there is to the mechanics. The more interesting part is what the limit tells you about how you are using the app.
Why happn has one
happn's stated reason is quality. A cap on Likes nudges people to think about each one rather than tapping the heart on every face that goes past.
That matters on an app built around crossing paths. The people in your feed are there because they spend time near you. If everyone liked everyone, a Like would mean nothing, and the women getting the most attention would stop paying attention to any of it.
Why the limit costs you less than it feels like
A man who keeps running into the cap is rarely being too picky. More often, he is not being picky enough.
a dating coach's view of the apps is that they rate you partly on how selective you are. A man who likes everyone looks unselective, and the apps tend to treat unselective as unattractive. On top of that, if you are willing to like women you are only lukewarm about, the app has little reason to show you the women you actually want.
So a daily cap is less of a wall than it seems. It pushes you toward the habit that works better anyway. If you hit the limit every single day, that is usually a sign you are liking too freely, not a sign you need more Likes.
Spend them on women you would actually message
Treat each Like as a small decision, not a reflex.
Before you tap the heart, ask one question: if this turned into a Crush, would I be pleased, and would I write to her tonight? If the answer is a shrug, keep the Like.
Put the ones you crossed first. You can check by opening her profile and scrolling to the last page. A map there means you crossed paths. No map means she is someone happn added from further away. The women you crossed are the ones who spend time near you, and those are the easiest dates to set up. My first rule for dates from the apps is to keep the date near your place, walking distance if you can, and a crossing gives you a head start on that.
Save a few for the evening, too. Crossings come in over the day as you go about your routine, so the best women you cross may not appear until later. A man who spends his whole allowance at breakfast has nothing left when they do.
Use the wait
Hitting the cap is a good moment to stop hunting and start talking.
My order for any app is to start with the woman closest to a date, then the chats still getting going, and only then go looking for new people. The Crushes you already have are worth far more than the Likes you cannot send.
Open your conversations. Answer anyone waiting on you. Send one short, specific line to any chat that has gone quiet. And if a conversation has had a few good messages back and forth, suggest a plan. coach aims to get from the app to a plan in about four to seven messages, and happn makes the plan easy, because you already know you are both nearby.
Is a subscription worth it?
It can be. coach is clear that many men are too proud to pay for anything on the apps and lose out for it. If a subscription saves you time and gets you more of the women you want, that is often money well spent.
But be honest about why you keep hitting the cap. If you run out because you are liking every woman you cross, a subscription just pays for a habit that works against you. If you run out because your routine puts you across the paths of plenty of women you genuinely like, the extra Likes are more likely to earn their cost.
Either way, My rule for anything paid is to test it. Try it for a stretch, compare the Crushes and conversations with what you were getting before, and keep it only if the difference is real.
