When Passport will not move you to another city, the usual causes are simple. The app may not recognize your subscription. You may not have finished a Face Check. Or the location may never have been saved in Settings. Only subscribers can change their location, and Passport comes with Tinder Plus, Gold and Platinum, or as a standalone purchase. If the app does not recognize what you paid for, Tinder's fix is Restore Purchase from Settings.
Check how you set the city
Start with the simplest cause. To change your location in Passport Mode, open Tinder, tap the profile icon, tap the Settings icon, scroll down to Location, and add a new location. You can search by city or drop a pin on the map.
Men sometimes type a city, close the screen, and never confirm it. Go back into Settings and check that the city you picked is the one listed. Then close the app and reopen it, so the cards refresh.
Tinder says you can be virtually in one city at a time. You can change location as often as you like, but you cannot browse two places at once. A man who adds a second city expecting both to show up has misread how it works, because each location replaces the one before it. Decide where you are heading first, and add that one.
Passport needs a subscription
Tinder says Passport Mode is sold as a standalone purchase and is included with Tinder Plus, Gold and Platinum. Only subscribers can change their location.
If you think you have it and the option will not work, the question is whether the app recognizes your purchase. Tinder's fix when it does not is to open Tinder, tap the profile icon, tap Settings, scroll down, and tap Restore Purchase.
If you bought through Tinder.com, with PayPal or Venmo, or by the card option on Android, there is a separate route. Sign in at Tinder.com and enter the Restore Token from your confirmation email, which starts with RT.
Face Check may be in the way
Tinder says that where Face Check is required, you must complete it to use Passport Mode. Once you are done with Passport in that region, you can opt out of Face Check.
If Passport does nothing, ask whether you have been prompted for Face Check and left it half finished. Do it properly, in good light, with your face in the frame and nothing covering it, and then try the location change again. Do this before you travel, not at the airport.
Allow time for the old city to clear
After you change location, Tinder says people you Liked while using Passport may see your profile for up to 24 hours. And Tinder says that if you recently visited another city, you may see people from there for up to 24 hours after you change your location.
That can look like Passport failing, when really the cards from the previous place are still being cleared. Give it a day before you decide it is broken.
Passport moves your card, it does not improve it
Even when Passport works, it changes only where you are looking. a dating coach's view of paid features is that they act as multipliers: they help when you already get some response and add nothing to zero.
A man whose photos and first lines draw little at home should expect the same in the next city over. Buying Passport to escape a weak lead photo moves the problem and leaves it intact.
Swipe and message before you travel, not on the plane
Use Passport days before you travel, not on the plane. Set the city, look through the cards, and write to the women whose pages interest you with a line about something specific on hers.
Say plainly that you are visiting and which days you are free. A woman who matches with a visitor usually works that out anyway, and being open saves a confused conversation. Then propose a day and a place within a few messages. "I land Thursday, are you free for a drink Friday?" is easy to answer, and a match who has to wait three days to hear a plan has usually moved on.
The short version
Passport fails for ordinary reasons. Pick one city in Settings, make sure the app recognizes your subscription, tap Restore Purchase if it does not, finish Face Check where it is required, and give the old city a day to clear. If all of that is in place and it still will not move you, contact Tinder and describe what you see in as much detail as you can. Then do the real work, which is writing to women in the city you are about to visit.
