In Miami, daytime approaches work best where people are already strolling: Lincoln Road on Miami Beach, the Sunday market there, Bayfront Park downtown and the Wynwood district. At night, pick a room where you can hear each other talk. Miami is a spread-out city, so choose one area per outing instead of trying to cover all of it.
Daygame happens outdoors here
a dating coach ranks Miami among his top cities and says that, beyond the nightlife it is famous for, "there also is really good day game." He points to outdoor malls and the beach, and to the fact that Miami has real industry besides entertainment. It is also a warm place you can visit all year.
Because the days are long and the weather is warm, a lot of life happens outside. That gives you more natural openers than a city where everyone is hurrying between buildings.
Places to start by day
These are public places with published details. Check the current page for any event before you plan around it, because hours and programs change.
- Lincoln Road, Miami Beach. Time Out describes Lincoln Road Mall as Miami Beach's pedestrian strip and outdoor shopping area in South Beach. The City of Miami Beach events listing shows a Lincoln Road farmers market on Sundays, from 9 AM to 6 PM, between Washington Avenue and Meridian Avenue. The listings say it runs rain or shine. A market gives you something to talk about: ask what she is buying.
- Bayfront Park, downtown. A 32-acre public park in Downtown Miami on Biscayne Bay. Miami and Beaches lists its Tina Hills Pavilion as the site of free yoga classes, among smaller events.
- Wynwood. The Wynwood Business Improvement District describes a 50-block arts district with roughly 200 murals. Wynwood Walls, at 2520 NW Second Ave, charges admission (adults $12, seniors $10, ages 13 to 17 $5, children 12 and under free, per its admissions page), while the streets around it are free to walk. Anyone standing in front of a mural has handed you an opener.
Our Miami Bootcamp article covers South Beach, Brickell, Coconut Grove and the Design District as a visitor finds them, so they are not repeated here.
How to open in a place like this
Comment on what is in front of both of you. At a market, ask what looks good. At a mural, ask which one she likes. Keep it short, listen to the answer and say something true about yourself.
If she answers in a word and turns back to what she was doing, that is your answer. Smile, say "enjoy your day," and move on.
Nightgame: loud versus workable
Miami nightlife is a big reason men come here. My honest assessment has two catches.
First, access. He says the high-end venues are "just that, they are high-end," and that the women you want to reach may be at a club you cannot enter or at a table you cannot reach. Access, in his words, is an issue.
Second, noise. "A lot of the clubs are very, very loud, so it is very hard to have a real conversation in them." For a man still learning to start and hold a conversation, a quieter bar or lounge is a better classroom than the loudest club.
He also notes that Miami has a money-focused streak. If you do not want to play that game, you do not have to. Many conversations happen in ordinary bars and lounges where nobody is judging your watch.
Language and getting around
Spanish is widely spoken in Miami. coach, who speaks it fluently, says that if you do not, "it's not a deal breaker, but it can be an annoyance," and plenty of women speak English. A warm hello in either language costs nothing.
Miami and Miami Beach are separate cities with Biscayne Bay between them, and they are different places to plan around, as the Miami Bootcamp article explains. Pick your area before you head out.
What a coach adds in Miami
Knowing where to go does not stop your stomach from tightening when a woman walks by. The Bootcamp is built for that moment.
Miami is the one city where Cold Approach publishes scheduled Group Bootcamp weekends, each running Friday to Sunday and led by Matthew Stevens, a Co-Founder and Head Coach. A Group coach works with no more than three students. A Private Bootcamp can also be done in Miami, with the length and dates arranged after you book. Read the Miami Bootcamp article for how the weekend works, or go straight to the Bootcamp page.
