Men ask what a done for you service does. Fewer ask what it feels like, and that is the more useful question, because the first two weeks have a shape that almost nobody describes.
Here it is in order.
The first few days are the busiest you will be
Handing the apps over does not start with rest. It starts with a short conversation about who you actually want to meet. Her age, how far you would really drive on a weeknight, what you want this to turn into, and the two or three things you will not bend on.
Then you take about fifteen ordinary selfies in different light and send them across. Not good ones. Ordinary ones, so the photo set built from them looks like the man who is going to walk into the bar.
That is the whole list of what lands on you. It takes under an hour, spread over a few days, and then it stops being your problem.
Day four: your thumb keeps opening the app anyway
This is the part that surprises men, and it is worth naming, because at first it feels like something has gone wrong.
You have spent years opening a dating app in the elevator, in line for coffee, in the ninety seconds between two meetings. That is not a decision you make each time. It is a habit sitting in your thumb.
So the thumb keeps going. You open the app out of reflex, find your own profile with somebody else running it, and there is nothing in there for you to do. You close it. Twenty minutes later you do it again.
It takes about four days for that to stop. It is also the clearest measurement you will ever get of how much attention the apps were quietly taking, and you only get to see the number once the taking stops.
The first week is quiet, and the quiet is the strange part
Nothing arrives on your phone all week. No notification, no red badge, no question you have to answer before bed.
Men read that quiet as nothing happening. It is the opposite. The quiet is what the arrangement is for, and it is the first week of the rest of it.
Here is what the quiet is made of. Your photo set gets built from the selfies you sent, several outfits and several settings, every shot looked at by a person before it goes near an app and the slightly off ones thrown out rather than shipped. Then your profile gets rebuilt around those images instead of tidied: the photos put in a deliberate order, the prompts answered in sentences a person would say out loud, the bio stripped of adjectives.
Then the accounts go live and get worked every day, on every app you want to be on. If part of your dating life happens on the selective ones, Raya, The League, Luxy, Inner Circle, those get run too, on the accounts you already have.
Interest starts arriving and most of it is not for you. That is normal, and it is exactly why you said what you wanted on day one. Everything gets read against your terms before anybody replies, and what comes out is a shorter list than the raw numbers would allow.
The one thing that reaches you in week one
A date on your calendar.
Not a summary of matches, not a list of women to approve, not a request that you write a better opening line. An evening, a place near her, and a name.
Our promise is your first date within a week, or we keep working. If that week passes without one, the work carries on until it happens, because the thing you wanted was a date.
Walking into a date you did not arrange
The first one is the odd one, and men handle it badly if nobody warns them.
You did not pick the bar. You did not write the messages that got you there. You know what she said about herself because you were told, not because you scrolled it at midnight. So there is a half hour beforehand where you feel like you are borrowing somebody else's evening.
That lasts until she sits down. Then it is a drink with a woman who has read your profile and liked what she read, and everything from that point is you. Nobody can do the sitting down for you, and nobody would want to.
What the second week actually changes
Week two is when the arrangement stops being an experiment and starts being how your life runs.
The apps do not go quiet, because running them is somebody's job that day rather than a thing you get around to. Conversations you never saw get opened, carried, and quietly closed out. A second evening gets proposed while the first one is still fresh.
And the profile starts moving against what is actually producing results, because by now there is something to move against. Which photo is doing the work, which opening gets answered, which age range replies and which one never does.
Your side of the second week looks like this: you show up somewhere on a Tuesday, and you are good company. That is it.
The honest part
Some first weeks are comfortable and some are tight. Women cancel, go quiet, and meet somebody else on Thursday, which happens to everyone and is the whole reason several conversations run at once instead of one. After the first date, the target is a steady 2-3 dates each week, and steady means an average across months rather than a promise about any particular Tuesday.
What does not happen in either kind of week is the thing that used to happen: the apps going dead because you were busy.
