The best texts for testing whether a girl likes you are light ones that give her room to show her interest. Try a playful challenge, a small story of yours, a callback to something she said, or a hint about seeing her. Then you watch how she answers, not just whether she does. One text proves nothing, but a few of them over several days, followed by an invitation to a first date, will show you whether she is interested.
What makes a text a good test
A good test costs you almost nothing. You never say "I like you" and you never ask "do you like me?", so if she is lukewarm you have lost nothing and she has felt no pressure.
a dating coach has a check you can borrow: read your text as if you were her, and ask whether you could easily answer it. A text that allows only "yes", "no" or a single word is a bad one. A tease she has to think about for a moment is fine, as long as she knows what she is answering, because a girl who gets invested in how to reply is a good sign.
Keep each text to one idea, or two at most. The wordings below show the shape. Use your own jokes about her, since a line that fits her beats one copied from a list.
Five texts to send before you ask her out
A playful challenge. "I have decided you are the type to defend a terrible restaurant to the end. Prove me wrong." She can play along, push back or let it drop, and any of those tells you something.
A small story with an opening. "I spent an hour fixing a shelf and it now leans. Do you have a worse home repair story?" You give first, then ask one easy thing.
A callback. "Update: I tried the noodle place you swore by. You were right and I am annoyed." It shows you listened, and she gets to enjoy being right.
A light plan hint. "This coffee place needs someone to argue about the menu with." You are not asking for anything yet. You are watching what she does with the idea of seeing you.
A pause she can fill. End a good chat on a high note, with something like "I am off to cook something questionable. Report back later." Then leave it alone. Whether she texts first after a few days is worth noticing. A girl who only wants a friend may text anyway, so her reaching out is mild evidence, and only the plan invitation settles it. Do this as an ordinary quiet day, not as a game, and never as a sulk.
How to read her answer
Compare what she sent with what you gave her. When she is into it, she picks up your hook and adds something of her own: a joke back, a story, a question about you. That is effort. A flat "haha" or "lol" with nothing to build on is politeness.
Do not try to decode speed or emojis. A quick reply can just mean her phone was in her hand, and a woman who texts a lot is not necessarily a woman who wants to meet. Some women reply warmly every time and still never want a date.
Add up several tests across several days. Mostly warm replies are a good sign. One warm reply in a week of short ones is not. A quiet or busy woman can look cool when she is only careful, so give her a few days.
If she tests you
Sometimes she throws a test at you, such as "what makes you think you are so special?" My rule is to pass the test and not to escalate off it, so answer with a light tease and keep the plan for later.
The same applies when she sounds cool or flat. Do not answer coolness with a longer text or a confession. Go back to something light, and let her reply tell you how things stand.
Asking her on a first date is the real test
Chatting is easy for a woman who is only being friendly. Meeting is not. That is why the last test is always the same one: ask her to meet, with a day, a kind of place and a time.
"You are fun to argue with. Coffee Thursday after work?"
A yes is a good sign she is interested. So is "I can't Thursday, but Saturday works," since a counter-offer suggests she is trying to find a time. If she stays vague twice, with something like "maybe, I'll let you know" and no day, take it as no for now and stop sending invitations. If she says no, it is a no. Thank her, leave it there, and do not ask again next week.
What to leave out
None of these tests should involve tricking her. Skip the fake emergency, the mention of another woman to make her jealous, and the cold silence meant to punish her. They damage trust, and they tell you nothing real about whether she likes you, because her reaction is to your trick and not to you.
Skip "do you like me?" and "where is this going?" too. Both put her on the spot.
A woman who is not interested is not a puzzle you failed to solve. Send a few good texts, watch what she does with them, ask her out once with a clear plan, and spend your attention on the people who answer you with real interest.
