What Happens to Your Boosts if You Delete Your Tinder Account?

You lose them. Tinder says consumable purchases cannot be transferred from one account to another. So if you delete your account and create a new one, any Super Likes, Boosts or Super Boosts you had left stay behind. A subscription works differently, because Tinder says you can restore that on the new account.

Tinder sells some extras one at a time, in a la carte packages. It calls these consumables, and it names Super Likes, Boosts and Super Boosts as the examples.

The word tells you how Tinder treats them. They are meant to be used up, one by one, on the account that bought them. They are not a credit that follows you around. Once that account is deleted, the balance has nowhere to go.

Tinder's Terms of Use are just as plain about the money. They class Super Likes and Boosts as virtual items and say purchases of them are final and non-refundable. They also say you get no money or other compensation for unused items when an account is closed, whether you close it yourself or Tinder closes it.

Your Tinder Plus, Gold or Platinum plan is not a consumable. Tinder says a subscription can be restored on the new account, so the plan you are paying for can come with you.

One detail catches men out here. Deleting the account is not the same as cancelling the plan. Tinder says deleting your account will not cancel an active subscription. If you mean to stop paying, cancel with whoever bills you: Apple, Google Play, or Tinder itself if you bought on Tinder.com.

The Boosts are the smallest part of the bill.

Tinder says starting over also loses your matches and your messages. Every conversation that was going somewhere goes with the old account. So does every woman who liked you and has not heard back, and every exchange where a date was half arranged. Some of those were worth more than a pack of Boosts.

So before you press delete, open your matches and read through them. If there is a conversation you would genuinely like to continue, get her number or make a plan first. Starting over is cheap only when the old account holds nothing worth keeping.

If you have decided to start over, spend what you have first.

Pick an evening when you are home and free, start a Boost, and answer every woman it brings in while she is still on the app. Send your Super Likes to women you have looked at properly, not to the first few faces in the stack. These purchases get one last chance to do something, so give them a real one.

Men usually delete an account because it stopped working, and they hope a new one will do better. That hope has a flaw. The new account gets built from the same photos and the same words, and women react to it the same way.

If you want the next account to do better, change what women see.

Put a clear, recent photo of your face at the front, taken in daylight, with nobody else in it. Cut the gym mirror shot and the group photo where she has to guess which one you are. Rewrite what you wrote so it gives her one concrete thing to ask about, such as a place you go or something you do on a Saturday.

Try those changes on the account you already have. If the matches pick up, you never needed to start over, and you kept your Boosts and your conversations. If you still want a fresh account after that, you will at least be starting it with a set that has shown it can work.
