Delete it if you have given it a fair three weeks, changed what was weak, and the count is still flat. Do not delete it because of one bad week, or because you never really tried. Bumble also says that deleting and recreating an account over and over can hurt your chances, so a delete is best treated as a real exit and not a reset.

When deleting is the right call

Three situations make deleting reasonable.

You ran a fair test and got nothing. That means three weeks of regular use, a clear recent lead photo, a first line that mentions something real on her page, and a reply to every match the same day. If you did all that and still got no conversations and no dates, the app is not working for you.

Using it makes you feel worse. A dating app is supposed to be a tool. If you open it, scroll without writing to anyone, and close it feeling flat, the habit has stopped paying you back.

You met someone, or you have decided to stop. Both are clean reasons.

If the app is making you feel worse, take that seriously before anything else. Count how many evenings this month went on scrolling that led nowhere. A man who is spending an hour a night on an app that has produced no dates is paying with his time and his mood, and a clean break, or a pause, is a perfectly sensible answer.

When deleting is the wrong call

Do not delete after a quiet weekend. Attention on a dating app is lumpy, and slow days are normal.

Do not delete because you have never changed anything. A man who uses the same photos and the same one-word openers for a year and gets no result has not learned that Bumble is bad. He has learned that those photos and those openers are.

And do not delete in order to start over. Bumble's own advice says a consistent page helps people recognize you, and it says that when someone sees the same page twice she is less likely to swipe on it again. A fresh account with the same photos and the same words gets you the same result, in front of women who may already have seen you.

Try the cheaper options first

Before you remove the account, there are two lighter steps.

Fix the weak step. Few matches means look at the lead photo. Matches with no replies means look at the opening message. Replies that never reach a date means you are not suggesting a plan soon enough. Change one thing, give it a week, and count again.

Or take a break with Snooze Mode, which hides you without deleting anything. Know two things before you use it. Bumble says matches without an active chat expire while you are snoozed, and snoozing does not pause a subscription.

How to delete it cleanly

If you decide to go, use the real option. Open the app, tap the profile icon, tap the gear for Settings, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.

Deleting the app from your phone does not delete the account, and neither does a long gap. If you pay for Boost, Premium or Premium+, cancel the subscription first, because Bumble warns that it may not end on its own. Bumble also says an account removed by accident can be restored for a limited time if you contact its support team, so decide with care.

Whether to move to another app

a dating coach says a man can do badly on one app and well on another, because each has its own algorithm and its own crowd. He recommends testing more than one, and says you do not owe loyalty to any single app.

So if Bumble is flat after a fair test, the sensible next step is a second app, not no apps. Give it the same photos and the same lines, run it for three weeks, and count the same three numbers. If both are flat, the photos or the openers are the problem, and that follows you to any app you try.

A fair three-week test

If you are unsure, run this before you decide. Use the free version. Open the app most days. Write to every woman you match with on the same day, and make each first line about one thing on her page.

Each week write down three numbers: matches, conversations that went past two messages, and plans made. If dates came, keep it. If matches came and nothing else did, the app works and your messages are the weak spot. If almost nothing came, change the lead photo before you change apps.
