Yes. Meta describes Facebook Dating as a free dating experience within the Facebook app. It is a dedicated, opt-in space inside Facebook, so there is no separate app to buy, and no subscription is needed to use it.
What Facebook Dating is
Facebook Dating is a part of the Facebook app that is set aside for meeting people to date. It is opt-in, which means nothing happens until you choose to turn it on.
You build a separate Dating profile there, and your activity in it stays in Dating. Meta says it is not shared to the rest of Facebook. It is a dating app that lives inside an app you may already have.
That is the answer to the question men also type: what is the Facebook dating app. It is not a stand-alone download. It is a feature of Facebook.
What Meta says about the price
Meta's own description calls it a free dating experience. When Dating was introduced, TechCrunch reported that Facebook had no plans to make money from it with ads or with premium subscriptions to bonus features.
Meta's description of its later features, a weekly surprise match called Meet Cute and a dating assistant, also presents them as part of that free experience. So the free label has covered the additions too.
Prices on other dating apps change often, and so does the line between free and paid. If you want to be sure, open Dating in the Facebook app and see whether it asks you for money. Meta's descriptions are the guide, and your own screen is the proof.
How that differs from other dating apps
Many dating apps are free to join and then sell paid tiers on top, such as Tinder Gold, Hinge+ or Bumble Premium. The free version is the entry point and the paid tier is the upsell.
Facebook Dating does not describe a paid tier in front of its matches or messages. So you are not choosing between the free version and a better one. You are using one version.
That removes a common trap. A man on a paid tier often stays on it because he has already spent the money, even when the results have not changed. With no paid plan, the only thing you can waste is time, and that is easier to track.
Free still has requirements
Free does not mean open to everyone. Facebook says you must be at least 18 and have a Facebook account in good standing that is at least 30 days old. You must also live in a country where Dating is supported.
Dating is accessed through the Facebook app for Android or iPhone. If you do not see it, check those four things before you decide it is missing.
What you pay with instead
The app costs nothing, so the thing you spend is attention. Every evening in it is an evening you did not put into something else.
a dating coach's rule for any dating app is to treat it as a test. Give it two weeks and count four numbers: women you liked, conversations that started, numbers you got and dates you set. If the numbers are good, keep going. If they are poor, a free price tag is not a reason to stay.
Spend that time carefully. Write each first message about one real detail in her photos or answers, in two or three sentences, and end with a question she can answer easily. Skip "hey."
Make the free version work for you
The strongest free upgrade is a set of pictures that look like you on a good day. A clear photo of just you, taken in daylight, as the first one. After that, pictures of what you do in a normal week, ideally taken by someone else.
Then take good conversations off the app. a dating coach's rule is to get a phone number within a handful of messages and to have a short call before a date. It keeps a good chat from dying in an inbox, and it works whichever dating app you used to meet her.
The short version
Facebook Dating is free. It is a feature inside the Facebook app on Android and iPhone, with a separate Dating profile and no paid tier described for its matches or messages. You need to be 18 or older, with a Facebook account in good standing that is at least 30 days old, in a supported country. Since it costs nothing, treat your time as the price, and test it for two weeks.
