Stop carrying the whole conversation
Look at your last few chats. Count who started each one. Then look at how much you wrote compared with how much she wrote.
If you send five messages for every one she sends, you’re doing all the work. If you ask every question, pick every topic, and set up every date, she may like the attention without wanting more with you.
Do not try to fix this by texting more often. More texts give her more chances to give short replies, take hours to answer, or stop replying. You end up staring at your phone and making excuses for her.
Send one clear message when you have a real reason to talk. Then leave space for her to add something.
For example:
“I found a small taco place near the park. Their menu looks good. Want to go with me this week?”
That message does three jobs. It gives her a plan. It asks for a clear answer. It gives her room to show interest.
If she says she’s busy but offers another time, keep talking and set it up. If she says she’s busy and gives you no other time, take that as a no for now. Do not send four more messages to keep the chat alive.
You’re not trying to force her to miss you. You’re finding out if she wants to take part.
Send fewer texts with a clear purpose
A lot of men text because they want a reply. That makes the phone decide how they feel. She answers, and they feel good. She stays quiet, and they check the screen every few minutes.
Give each message a job.
Your text can make a plan, share a small piece of your life, or continue a topic from your last date. It should not be a test to see if she still cares.
Bad example:
“Hey”
Then, after no reply:
“What are you doing?”
Then:
“You good?”
Those texts give her nothing to work with. They also show that you’re waiting for her attention.
Try something with a clear point:
“I’m making pasta tonight. I still say your sauce was too spicy.”
That gives her a fun detail and brings back a moment you shared. She can joke, defend her cooking, or ask what you’re making.
Keep the message short. You don’t need to write a full report about your day. You also don’t need to send three small updates in a row.
A guy I coached used to text a woman each morning, even though she often gave one-word replies. He thought more contact would build a closer bond. We changed his rule. He sent a message only when he had something worth saying or a plan to make. When she replied with real interest, he kept the exchange going. When she gave a flat answer, he ended the chat and went back to his day.
His phone stopped running his mood.
Ask for a date, then judge her effort
Texting can make a weak connection look stronger than it is. You may trade jokes for two weeks and still have no real date on the calendar.
Move from messages to a simple plan.
Say:
“I’ve enjoyed talking with you. Come have a drink with me at the wine bar near the square.”
Or:
“You seem fun in person. Let’s get coffee after work.”
You don’t need to write a long speech about your feelings. You don’t need to ask if she might perhaps be interested in meeting. Ask her out in a calm, direct way.
Then watch what she does.
If she likes you but can’t make your first time, she’ll often suggest another time. If she wants to see you, she’ll help solve the small problem. If she says “maybe,” keeps the plan vague, or replies only after you ask again, stop pushing.
Her words matter, but her effort matters more. A woman who wants to see you does not need to start every text. She does need to help make the date happen.
You can also set a limit before you ask. Send one invite. If she gives a clear yes, set the place and time. If she gives a clear no but offers another time, keep going. If she gives no answer or a weak excuse, do not send another invite.
That keeps you from turning one invitation into a week of chasing.
When to walk away from the phone
You should not punish her because she rarely starts a conversation. Some women are quiet texters. Some prefer talking in person. Some have busy lives. The real question is whether she gives you something back.
She may not text first, but she could reply with energy, ask you questions, laugh at your jokes, and show up when you make a plan. That is different from a woman who sends “lol,” takes no part in the chat, and avoids meeting.
Look at the full exchange, not one quiet stretch.
If you have invited her out twice and she has not made a clear effort, stop sending personal messages. Do not announce that you’re leaving. Do not send a final note to make her feel bad. Just put your phone down and give your attention to women who meet you halfway.
You’re not asking her to chase you. You’re asking for a basic sign that she wants to be there.
