Move on by ending contact in a way you cannot easily undo, spending less time around her, being honest about what did not fit, and filling the space with other people and your own work. You do not need her to change her mind, explain herself or apologize before you can feel better. Expect a rough stretch, and plan ahead for the moment you want to text her.
Say it to yourself in plain words
Write one sentence somewhere you will see it: "She said no, and it is final." Do not ask her why again, and do not draft the speech that would change her mind. A no is a complete answer, and treating it as the start of a debate keeps you stuck.
This is not about winning her back later by acting cold. Do it to heal, not as a trick. If she ever reaches out on her own, that is a separate matter.
Make contact hard to restart
The easiest way to stay hooked is to leave every door open. If you are truly done, delete her chats, archive the old texts out of sight, and block her if you can. Scrolling back to the days when she seemed interested is how a good decision gets undone at eleven at night.
If a full block feels too harsh, put barriers in the way instead. Hide the chat. Mute her. Stop watching her stories. Each small step adds a pause between the urge and the action.
Plenty of men cut a girl off, hold out for a week or two, then start texting again, and it spoils everything that follows. Cutting contact only works if you stick to it.
Spend less time around her
Attachment grows with time spent near something. For any pull you do not want, limit your exposure, even though you may think about her more at first. Less time near her means she takes up less room in your head.
If you share a class, a job or a friend group, keep it civil and short. Say hello, answer what is asked, and leave. Do not hover near her table. Do not volunteer to sit next to her at the group dinner.
Be honest about what did not fit
This step sounds cold, and it works. The method is to make the flaws the focus, not the good parts. When you think of her, you will tend to replay the best moments. Break that habit by listing what really did not match.
Be fair, not nasty. "She wanted something quieter than I did." "She was warm when it suited her and cold when it did not." "We wanted different things by the end of the year." Insults are a form of staying attached. Honest facts are a form of letting go. Done often, this works like a form of meditation, and you will start to see her in a more realistic light.
Fill the space
The biggest point is that a man does not fully get over a woman until he meets someone as good or better. That means you have to meet more people. Say yes to invitations, go on dates, talk to women you see in daily life. You are not looking for a replacement, only for evidence that she was not the only option.
Simping is giving energy, attention and compliments to someone who gives none back. The cure is to put your attention where it is returned.
Pour the time that you would have spent on her into your own work. Train harder. Take on the project you have been postponing. A man heading somewhere useful has less time to wait for a text.
Plan for the urge to text
You will want to text her, probably at a low moment. Prepare a rule.
- Wait a full day. Most urges are gone by then.
- Write it in your notes app. Read it the next morning. It will look different.
- Tell a friend. Ask them to ask you about it.
- Remember what happened last time. Nothing good came from the late-night text.
If you slip once, do not decide that all your progress is gone. Start the count again.
If you still see her
Treat her as you would any acquaintance: polite, brief, and not cold on purpose. You do not have to be her friend. You just have to stop acting out the story where you are waiting for her.
