She likes you if she keeps looking back, turns her body toward you, asks you questions and stays in the conversation when she could leave. One sign proves nothing. Several together, over a few minutes, tell you most of what you need. If she gives short answers, looks past you and angles toward her friends, she is telling you something too.
You do not need to read minds. You need to notice a few plain things and keep your reaction relaxed.
Signs that she is open
Before you speak, look at how she is standing and what she is doing. A woman who is open to a hello usually:
- Looks around the room instead of staring at her phone or into one friend's face.
- Smiles or makes eye contact with people near her.
- Stands or sits with an open body, not turned away or boxed in by friends.
- Is waiting for a drink, a friend or a table, so she has a free minute.
A woman in a serious conversation, or one with her back to the room, is signalling not now. Leave her alone and look for another moment.
Signs she likes the conversation
Once you are talking, watch for these:
- She asks you questions back. This is one of the strongest signs. People ask about someone they want to know.
- She turns toward you. Her shoulders and feet often point at whoever she wants to talk to.
- Her answers get longer. She goes from one word to a story.
- She laughs and teases. Light teasing is a sign of comfort.
- She does not scan the room. Her attention stays on you.
- She stays. She could leave to see a friend and she does not.
None of these needs to be dramatic. Most interest in real life is quiet.
Signs that fool men
Some behavior looks like interest and is not.
- Politeness. A smile and a friendly answer can be plain good manners, especially in a service setting.
- Eye contact at a bar. Looking across a room can mean she is bored, curious or waiting for someone.
- A touch on the arm or shoulder. Some people are simply physical when they talk.
- Friendly bar chatter. A woman who talks to everyone may not be talking to you in a special way.
The way to tell the difference is to look for a group of signs and to watch what she does when she has the option to leave.
Check with small steps
Instead of guessing, test gently. Extend the conversation by a minute and see whether she follows. Ask a question that needs more than a word. Suggest a small step, such as getting a drink together or stepping somewhere quieter.
If she agrees with warmth, you have your answer. If she hedges, glances at her friends or says she should get back, take that as an answer too. Say "Good to meet you, enjoy your night" and go.
What the hour does
A woman who has been bought drinks and hit on all night has her guard up by late evening. The same hello can get a warm answer at nine and a short one at midnight. A cool reply late in the night says little about you.
Keep this in mind before you read her mood as a verdict. It helps to note what time it is and how many people have already talked to her.
What not to do with the signs
Do not use signs to overstay a conversation she wants to end. Do not argue with a clear no. Do not ask her friends to report back, and do not keep checking whether she is looking.
The goal of reading signs is to pick your moment and to know when to leave gracefully. It is not to prove she likes you.
Staying relaxed is half the battle
Men who worry about every signal often send a worse one: stiff, intense, over eager. A relaxed man reads better and is easier to like. If you are having a good time, she is more likely to have one too.
Learning to read it live
Reading signals from a page is hard. Reading them in a real bar with a coach next to you who points out what just happened is much faster.
Cold Approach runs an in person Bootcamp that is fully in the field, with live coaching on every approach and feedback after every set. It runs in Miami and New York only. Group is three consecutive days at three students per coach, and Private is one on one for one, two or three days. A total beginner is welcome and approach anxiety is the specialty.
