How to Get the Blue Check Badge on Luxy

Go to your own page in the Luxy app, scroll down to Verify Photo and follow the instructions. Once you are verified, your account shows a blue checkmark badge. The verification photo you take is private and only the Luxy team sees it. Luxy turns it down if your face is not visible, if your selfie does not match your uploaded photo, or if its system cannot recognize your main photo.

Do it as soon as your account is set up, before you start liking anyone. Verification is the kind of small job that is easy to put off, and putting it off costs you more than it seems to.

The photo you take for verification is private. Luxy says only the Luxy team sees it.

That means it does not need to be flattering. It needs to be clear. Nobody browsing Luxy will ever see the selfie you take to verify. They only see the badge that comes from it.

So there is no point posing. Skip the angle you think makes your jaw look sharper and the half smile you use for photos. Look straight at the phone in good light, like a passport photo with a better attitude, and let the check do its job.

Luxy lists three reasons a verification photo gets turned down. Your face may not be visible. Your selfie may not match the photo you uploaded. Or the system may not be able to recognize your main photo.

The first is the easy one to fix. Take off sunglasses and a cap, face a window or a lamp so your face is lit evenly, and hold the phone at about eye level.

The second catches men whose uploaded photos are old or heavily edited. If the man in your main photo has more hair, less weight or a smoothed-out jaw compared with the man holding the phone today, the two will not match. The fix is not a better selfie. It is a more honest main photo.

The third reason is about your main photo rather than the selfie. If the system cannot recognize your main photo, it has nothing to compare your selfie with.

A main photo that works for verification is simple. It shows one person, with your face clear and facing the camera, in decent light, taken recently. That happens to be the same photo that works best with women. Group shots, distant shots, sunglasses and dark bars make both jobs harder.

Start with the reason. If your face was not visible, retake the selfie facing a window, with nothing on your head or over your eyes. If the selfie did not match your uploaded photo, look hard at that photo. Is it old? Is it filtered? Were you wearing sunglasses, a heavy beard you have since shaved, or glasses you no longer wear? Replace it with something recent that looks like you today.

If the system could not recognize your main photo, change the main photo itself. Pick one where you are alone, close enough to fill a good part of the frame, and facing the camera. Then try again and follow the instructions exactly as the app gives them. In practice the fixes are good light, a straight angle and an honest, recent main photo, and all three are quick.

The blue check tells a woman you are the man in your photos before she reads a word you wrote. That matters more than it might seem. Stories about men who look nothing like their photos are everywhere, and plenty of women treat every new match with a little caution because of them. The badge answers that question before she has to ask it.

There is a practical side too. Luxy's help center says unverified members can send only one message until their profile is verified. Without verification, you cannot hold a real conversation at all.

Put verification first. Set up your photos, verify, and only then start liking women on the Match page. That way the badge is on your page from the first woman who sees it, and the one-message limit never cuts a good conversation short.

The badge helps on the date itself as well. She arrives expecting the man from your photos, and that is who she finds. A first date that starts without that small moment of adjustment starts better, and it leaves the whole evening for getting to know each other.
