Open your Likes You tab, tap the woman who sent the Rose, then tap the chat icon. From there you can type a message to send with the match, or simply tap Match. Either way you are matched, and she moves into your Matches tab so the two of you can start messaging.

Where her Rose shows up

Likes You is the tab with the heart icon at the bottom of the screen. Roses appear at the top of it. Hinge's page on subscriber features adds that Roses carry a Rose icon and sit above Priority Likes. Those are the likes HingeX subscribers send, and they stay high in a list for 7 days.

So a Rose does not get buried among ordinary likes. It is the first thing you see when you open the tab, marked so you know what it is.

That placement matters more if you use Hinge for free. Hinge says free users see incoming likes one at a time, while Hinge+ and HingeX subscribers can see all of them at once. With Roses placed at the top of the screen, hers is the one you reach first rather than somewhere down a queue you are working through card by card.

Accepting it, step by step

Hinge's help page gives these steps:

  1. Tap on the woman who sent the Rose.
  2. Tap the chat icon.
  3. Either add a message to send, or simply tap the Match button.

Once you do, you are matched, and she moves to your Matches tab, where the chat lives. It works the same way as accepting an ordinary like.

Match with a message, not just the button

Hinge gives you the option to match without writing anything. Do not take it.

A woman who sent you a Rose has already done the harder half. She picked you out, spent a Rose on you, and she may well have written a comment. If you match in silence, she opens her Matches tab to find you there saying nothing, and now she has to start again.

A short reply sent with the match picks up exactly where she left off. If she commented on something, answer it. If she did not, react to something on her card instead.

What her Rose means, and what it does not

A Rose means she noticed you and wanted to make sure you noticed her back. That is real interest, and it is a better start than most matches get.

It is not a promise of anything else. She has not decided to go out with you yet. Treat it as a warm opening, not a done deal.

Men who get their first Rose sometimes overreact in one of two directions. Some gush with thanks. Others act as though the date is already set. Both put a lot of weight on a single tap, and both make you less interesting than the man she chose a moment ago. The steadier approach is to be pleased, show it lightly, and get on with being good company.

What to write first

Answer her. If she commented on your photo from a hiking trip, reply about the trip and turn it back toward her: "That trail nearly finished me. You look like someone who picks the hard route on purpose." If she commented on one of your answers, carry on from what she said and add a question of your own.

Keep the first message short and easy to reply to. Skip "thanks for the Rose!" on its own, which gives her nothing to work with.

A small tease works well here, because she has already shown interest and you do not need to win her over. What you want to avoid is over-validating her in return, piling compliments on a woman who just paid you one. Enjoy the attention without making a production of it.

Moving it toward a date

A Rose makes a quick date easier, not harder, because the interest is already on the table. Have a few good exchanges, then suggest a place and a day.

Something low effort for her works best: a drink after work, a coffee on a weekend morning, somewhere near where she lives. If you would rather hear her voice first, a short phone or video call can come before that. Suggest ten minutes, and let it run longer if it is going well.

If you are not interested

You do not have to accept a Rose. You can skip it, just as you can skip any incoming like.

Accepting a Rose from a woman you have no intention of meeting, just to see what happens, wastes her time and yours. A clean skip is the kinder choice, and it keeps your Matches tab full of women you actually want to talk to.
