Downloading Luxy and creating an account are free. The basic version lets you browse, get daily recommendations, swipe, and message your mutual matches with no limit on the number of conversations. The premium tiers cost money and are priced per month, with the exact figure depending on the package length, your local currency and any regional promotion. Whichever package you pick, Luxy bills the full amount for the billing cycle upfront, and there are no installment plans.
What the free version gives you
The free version on Luxy is enough to date with. It is not a teaser that cuts you off as soon as things get interesting. Luxy lists four things you can do without paying:
- Browse other members.
- Get daily recommendations.
- Swipe.
- Keep unlimited conversations going with women you have matched with.
That last point matters. Some apps ration how many chats you can have. On Luxy, once a woman matches with you, you can keep talking to her for as long as the conversation lasts, with no subscription needed.
There is one caveat. Luxy gives full swiping and messaging to accounts that have passed its review, and before that you only see a preview. If a paywall appears the moment you try to swipe, that is the review, not the limits of the free version.
What paying adds
The premium tiers are PLUS, BLACK and PLATINUM, and each one builds on the one below. In broad terms, the higher tiers add more recommendations, more privacy, more visibility, and ways to reach women before you have matched.
So the split is easy to remember. The free version lets you talk to your matches. The paid tiers mostly change who you can reach and how many women see you.
How Luxy bills you
Luxy prices its premium tiers per month, but it does not charge you month by month on a longer package. You pay for the whole billing cycle upfront. A longer package means one larger charge on the day you buy it, and there is no plan to spread that out.
The monthly figure also moves around. It depends on how long a package you choose, what currency you pay in, and whether a regional promotion is running. The price that counts is the one on your own screen when you buy, not one you read somewhere else.
Is paying worth it for you?
Some men are proud of never spending a cent on a dating app. They would rather swipe for hours than spend anything, as if paying meant they were desperate. That is a poor trade. Your time is worth something, and apps give their paying members features that save it.
But paid features work by multiplying what you already get, so they need something to work on. If the free version is bringing you some matches and some replies, a paid tier can bring you a lot more. If it brings you nothing, paying shows the same nothing to more women.
So use the free version as your test. Give it a couple of weeks of honest effort. Are women matching with you? Are they answering your first messages? If yes, paying is a reasonable next step. If no, the problem is on your page or in your messages, and money will not fix it.
Make the free version work first
Most of what decides your results costs nothing.
Your photos come first. Open with a clear, well-lit shot of just you, and make the rest a mix of settings from different days. If one photo is noticeably weaker than the rest, take it out, because the worst picture is the one she remembers.
What you write about yourself comes second. Skip the resume. Give her a couple of specific details she could ask about, and a little edge that makes you sound like a man with opinions.
Then there is how you use the app. Swipe on women you actually want to take out. Write to every match within a day, with a short message built on something from her page. A few minutes each morning and evening does more than a long session once a week.
What to pay for first
If the free version is working and you decide to pay, spend on the features that widen your reach, not the ones that only give you more to look at.
Being able to write to a woman first, or to see who already likes you, usually earns its cost faster than extra recommendations to scroll through. Visibility features come after that, once your page is strong enough to deserve the extra eyes.
Start with the shortest package that gives you what you want. Because the whole cycle is billed upfront, a short first package is the cheapest way to find out whether a tier is worth keeping.
