There is no honest average, and any figure quoted without a named source deserves doubt. For most men it takes months, not days. Some meet a woman in the first month and some take half a year. The speed depends on things you control: how many women you meet, how clearly you say what you want, and how fast you turn good chats into dates.
Why nobody can give you a number
A relationship needs two people who both want it, at the same time, with each other. The apps can introduce you to the first woman on your first night, but they cannot make her want what you want.
So the time to a relationship is a mix of luck and volume. Two men with the same page can have very different months, because one of them happened to meet the right woman early. a dating coach says the apps do not care how many relationships or marriages they create. They are built to make money, so no timeline comes from them.
What you can control is how many real chances you create and how well you use each of them.
The stages take different amounts of time
Matches and first dates are quick compared with the rest. With sound photos and a decent opener, you can be on first dates within a couple of weeks of starting.
Seeing someone regularly is slower. It takes several dates over a few weeks before two people know whether they want more. Frequency matters more than the count. Seeing each other once or twice a week is far further along than four dates spread over three months.
The step from seeing someone to being a couple takes the longest, and it happens when both of you say so out loud, not after a set number of dates. Until you have said it, assume she is still seeing other people.
What speeds it up
Say what you want. A page is a filter. A man who writes that he is looking for something steady attracts more women who want that, and a man who writes like a man after a quick hookup meets women after the same. Say it in ordinary words and let the others pass.
Know what you are looking for before you start. a dating coach says many men never stop to think about this. They see someone attractive and go after her. Ten minutes on what you want your weekends to look like and what you could not live with will save you months of dating the wrong women.
Move chats toward plans early. A conversation that runs for weeks without a meeting rarely turns into anything, and every week spent on it is a week not spent meeting someone better.
What slows it down
The biggest drag is going out to hunt for a relationship. a dating coach's view is that a man who needs one woman to fix his life comes across as needy, and a man too focused on getting a girlfriend can seem pushy. The men he knows who find the woman they want are usually dating actively, with options, when they meet her.
Long-distance chats slow it too. a dating coach's reasoning is that months of messaging with no meeting give both people little reason to stay interested. Meanwhile, other people near her are offering real evenings. Aim to meet within a few exchanges instead of nursing a chat from far away.
Dating one woman at a time on one chat is also slow. When she drifts off, you restart from nothing.
Screening saves time
A short phone or video call before the first date does two things. It tells you whether the woman matches her photos and whether you enjoy talking to her. a dating coach says it also lowers the flake rate and makes the date itself go better.
Use the same screening on the question of what she wants. If you are looking for a relationship and she says she is not, believe her early and move on. Nobody is persuaded into wanting a relationship by a few weeks of effort.
While you are seeing someone
Stay on the app until you have both agreed to be exclusive. It is not rude to keep looking until then, and it keeps you from putting everything into a woman who has not committed.
Once you have agreed, what to do about the apps is something to settle between the two of you. Until then the plan is simple: keep meeting people, keep your standards and be clear about what you are after. If you want help finding out which part of the process is slowing you down, a coach can go through your chats and your dates with you.
