How Endorsing a Friend Works on The League

Endorsing a friend on The League works like a referral. When you endorse someone on the Waitlist, they move ahead of everyone who is waiting without an endorsement, but not all the way to the front. The League rewards you for it as well: once your friend is drafted, you get a bump on the Waitlist of your own and some free League Tickets.

An endorsement is The League's version of a friend vouching for you. It tells the app that somebody it already knows thinks you belong there.

The League turns that vouch into a better spot in the queue. People are let in by "drafting," and the drafting happens in a set order. Paid members go first. Golden Ticket holders come next. People with an endorsement come after them, and the standard Waitlist comes last.

So an endorsement lifts you out of the biggest and slowest group. It does not put you at the front, and it does not get your application approved. It gets you read sooner than the men who have nobody vouching for them.

It helps to be honest about what an endorsement is worth compared with the other two routes.

Paying for the Unlimited tier skips the Waitlist completely. A Golden Ticket moves you to the top of the queue and comes with a fast, promised review. An endorsement moves you up, but you are still behind everyone in those first two groups.

That makes it the weakest of the three, and also the easiest to get. A friend can send one in under a minute, and The League rewards them for doing it. If you can get a Golden Ticket, take that. If you cannot, an endorsement is well worth the one message it takes to ask.

This is the part that makes asking easy. The League rewards the person who sends an endorsement.

Once the friend they endorsed is drafted, the sender gets a Waitlist bump and free League Tickets. So if two of you are both waiting, or one of you is inside and the other is not, an endorsement helps both sides. You are not asking for a pure favor. You are offering a small trade.

Endorsing a friend takes less than a minute. Open Account Settings and tap Endorsements. From there you can choose the person you want to vouch for.

If you are the one asking, make it simple for your friend. Tell them you are on the Waitlist, ask whether they would endorse you, and tell them where the option lives so they do not have to go looking. A friend who knows exactly where to tap is far more likely to do it straight away.

A short text covers it. "I'm on The League's Waitlist. Would you endorse me? It's under Account Settings, then Endorsements, and you get a Waitlist bump and some free League Tickets once I'm in." That is the whole ask, and it tells them what is in it for them.

Keep it to friends who actually know you. The whole point of an endorsement is that a real person is vouching for a real person. Collecting them from strangers misses the point of the feature.

There is a reason The League built its queue this way, and it is the same reason vouching works everywhere else.

A man who arrives with someone vouching for him gets a warmer reception than a man who arrives alone. It is true when a friend introduces you at a party, and it is true when a friend's name sits behind your application. The endorsement does not change who you are. It changes how quickly people are willing to take a look.

The catch is that a look is all it buys you. What they find when they look still has to hold up.

Use the waiting time well, so you are ready on the day you get drafted. Put up recent photos where your face is easy to see. Fill in every field the app gives you. Write an About Me that sounds like a person telling a friend about his week, not a résumé.

Then, once you are in, be quick. The League rewards members who are responsive, so open the app every day and write to women soon after you match. Make your first line about something she actually wrote. Suggest meeting once the conversation is clearly going well.

Your friend vouched for you to get you in the door. Show up ready, and make the vouch look like a good call.
