Duet pairs people through interest-based pages. You tag your interests, traits, opinions and habits, you can add a 30 second voice clip, and the app shows you people who share them. It checks faces to keep out fake accounts, and once one person shows interest in meeting, a built-in assistant suggests coffee times. The free version has limits, and two paid tiers lift them.
What you build when you sign up
Duet's store listing says it uses interest-based pages, and the tool that fills them in is called Smart Tag. A tag can be an interest, a trait, an opinion or a habit, so the page reads more like a list of things you care about than a stack of photos with a caption.
That suits a man who is better at talking than posing. Her first look at you is still your face, but the tags give her something to answer. "Sunday long runs" or "cooks too much food for one person" beats a long run of tags that anyone could have, because a specific tag is a ready-made first line for her.
The 30 second voice clip
Members can add a voice prompt of up to 30 seconds. Voice carries things a photo cannot: whether you sound relaxed, whether you are funny out loud, whether you rush.
Use it on purpose. Say one specific thing in a normal speaking voice, as if you were telling a friend across a table. Do not read a script, and do not try to sound like a radio host. A clip that sounds like you is the one a woman can picture on a first date.
Verification and moderation
Duet has a face verification step meant to keep out fake profiles, and a moderation team that handles scam reports. If you meet someone who asks for money or pushes you off the app early, report her instead of arguing.
Verifying yourself is worth the two minutes. It tells a woman that you are the man in your photos, which is the first doubt most people carry onto any app.
From a match to a coffee
Once one person shows interest in meeting, Duet's Meet-up Assistant suggests coffee date times, syncs with a calendar and sends reminders. That removes the stage where two people trade "free whenever" messages for a week until the interest fades.
You do not have to wait for the assistant. a dating coach's habit is to move a conversation to a plan within a handful of messages, keep the date short, and keep it near where you live. A coffee is an easy first meeting because either of you can leave after forty minutes without it meaning anything. Use the tool to book it, not to postpone it.
Duet Blind Date
Duet also runs a mode called Blind Date. It offers a dating quiz and a personality test, and a feature called Duet Clic that pairs people at random by location and zodiac sign.
Treat it as a different kind of evening, not a shortcut. A random pairing tells you nothing about whether you will like each other, so the quiz answers and your first line do the work that a photo normally does. If you try it, answer the quiz honestly, because an answer that fits a woman you would not enjoy talking to wastes both of your time.
What free, Premium and Supreme do
Free use has limits. Duet Premium adds seeing who likes you, unlimited likes and unlimited rewind. Duet Supreme adds messaging before a match, using a few Praises, plus advanced filters such as height and education, and daily picks.
Seeing who likes you saves time, since those people have already said yes. Messaging before a match is the one Supreme feature that changes how you play, because a good first line can reach someone who has not seen you yet. The filters help only if you already know what you want.
Duet is made by Wink Tech Limited, and subscriptions renew automatically unless you switch that off in your app store. Set a reminder when you buy, and check what the screen charges on the day, because prices change.
Is it worth your time?
Duet does not publish how many men get dates, or how many women near you are on it. Nobody can tell you in advance, so the honest test is your own numbers.
a dating coach's advice for any app is to test two at once with the same photos and the same written lines, use them for a few weeks, and keep the one that produces conversations. Count the women you liked, the ones who answered, and the plans that came out of it. If Duet shows you almost nobody near you, a subscription will not fix that. If it shows you women you would like to meet, the free version is enough to find out how they respond.
